Violent Ends Pre Show Sunday November 8th, 2020 The Citadel in Toronto, Ontario
TRYOUT MATCH
Summer Page def. Curt Kornell
OPENING
Following the OATH signature we entered the arena and were greeted by the smiling face of May O'Neil and the shit eating grin of Vince Valerie. O'Neil welcomed us to the first edition of Catalyst and explained that for all iPay-Per-View events going forward Catalyst would precede the big event. Valerie wondered if they would be paid more now that they both host two shows as well as being backstage correspondents. They ran down the card for the pre-show and hyped the matches for the Violent Ends event before we went to the ring for the opening contest.
TAG TEAM MATCH
The Blacklist vs. The Lapalm Sisters
Nas Darkbringer and Nero barely waited for the bell to sound when they rushed Annie and Tina. Both Nas and Darkbringer attacked them with every strike that the knew. The siblings were completely caught off guard. The Lapalms both bailed out of the ring to try to regroup but The Blacklist pursued them via stereo suicide dives. Annie was sent back into the ring where The Blacklist dropped her with a roundhouse kick from Nas and an enziguiri from Darkbringer at the exact same time. Nice. Tina jumped up onto the apron and tried to enter the ring but Nas blasted her with Ether Classic (Yakuza Kick) that sent her flying from the apron into the barricade. Nero hoisted Annie up and planted her with Nero’s Curse (Strong Style Burning Hammer) to get the pinfall and the victory.
Winners: The Blacklist
BACKSTAGE
Near the receiving area of The Citadel the sibling tag team of Erika and Nicky Crawford were warming up for their upcoming tag team match against The Dynamic Duo. Erika's eyes lit up when another figure entered the frame, the Number One Contender for the Livewire Championship, El Diablo Blanco.
BLANCO: Are we ready to start the journey to the top of the tag team mountain my little Diablitos?
ERIKA: Absolutely El D. We're done with losing and we're ready to get back on track!
BLANCO: That is the spirit! Together you will be unstoppable. Now get out there and show The Citadel exactly who the Crawfords are! Tonight is your night. Can you diggit? NICKY: We can diggit.
The three did a cool guy three way fist bump and then the Crawford's set off toward the gorilla position leaving El D watching on like a proud papa.
TAG TEAM MATCH
Dynamic Duo vs. Erika & Nicky Crawford
This one started off with Serenity Scorpio and Nicky Crawford doing some fast paced back and forth. Nicky was able to get the upper hand after he took Serenity down with the Last Resort (Diamond Cutter). Nicky tagged in Erika and the Resident Good Girl got a tad overzealous and she climbed to the top rope for a swanton bomb that completely missed. Serenity tagged in Jocelyn Sky and together they blasted Erika with a Double Yahtzee! (Double Superkicks) for a near fall. Erika tried to make the tag but Jocelyn put a stop to that with a kick to the back of her head.
Following a tag from Dynamic Duo, they put Erika on the mat with Low/High Road (Spear [Serenity]/Lariat [Jocelyn]) for another near fall. Nicky was pacing on the apron and threw his hands up in relief when Erika kicked out. Serenity tried to set Erika up for...something... but Erika hit her with a dropkick and then made the desperation tag to Nicky. Nicky darted across the ring and hit Jocelyn off the apron with a forearm smash as Erika planted Serenity with Good Girls Do It Best (Running Blockbuster)! Nicky then ascended to the top rope and hit the Witchblade (Final Hour) and hooked the leg for the victory! Winners: Erika & Nicky Crawford
SINGLES MATCH
Maverick vs. Sydney St. Clair
The next contest was two rising Livewire stars going head to head as "The King of Immortality" Maverick took on "The Weapons Grade PAWG" Sydney St. Clair. Maverick started the match off quickly with some fast paced strikes that left Sydney open to be hit with Maverick's Relapse (Headscissors Driver) for a near fall. Sydney was able to quickly rally back by planting Maverick with a surprise Aerial Ace (Springboard Cutter) for a near fall of her own. Maverick tried to get back in the driver's seat with an Irish whip but Sydney reversed it and hit him with the Came Back Swinging (Handspring Clothesline). Sydney had the support of the fans in The Citadel as she went for Automatic Midnight (Pumphandle Cut-Throat Driver) but Maverick reversed it and hit her with Sunset Overdrive (Running Blockbuster) for a second near fall. Ever arrogant, Maverick played to the audience and set Sydney up for Deus Ex Machina (Electric Chair Piledriver) and nailed it. Maverick covered and got the three count.
Winner: Maverick
BACKSTAGE
CHANEY: The Shaggy Dog story is a joke type I’m pretty fond of.
‘The Comedian’ Allen Chaney was backstage, wearing an old hoodie over his ring gear, his hands stuffed into his pockets.
CHANEY: I mean, it follows the basic setup and punchline joke structure but it’s setup, setup, setup, setup, setup, setup, setup, setup, setup, setup...and then an intentionally unsatisfying punchline. The humor is then derived from the fact that there was this very long journey to get the listener invested and then you give an unsatisfying conclusion.
Allen tooks his hands out of his pockets as he continued to explain, gesturing with his hands as he spoke.
CHANEY: The point isn’t so much that it’s all about the journey, more so that it’s about making every moment of the journey feel pointless. Andy Kaufman logic. It’s funnier to the person telling the joke than it is to the person or people hearing it. I could tell you one now but I could go on for 20 minutes or so and if the censors heard just a bit of what I had planned and deemed that to be very un-‘Aristocrat’-ic of me so instead I’ll get right to the point.
‘Aristocrat’ was in air quotes. You’ll just have to google it. Also there was a movie.
CHANEY: So in this instance? The long-winded setup has been everything Kirios Hunt has done in her training and her career to get up to this point. Trying to escape the shadow of her husband’s career. Putting in the work to an insane degree. Grabbing wins and showing she means business and hoping to finally get one good shot at a title. She knows all she needs is one fair shot and there will be no more ‘n/a’ listed under her achievements. She gets her shot at becoming number one contender for the Livewire Championship. She works her ass off to get ready for the match and after everything that led her to this one moment… she gets beat by the star of a failed sitcom who hasn’t even been here a month. Do you feel that disappointment in your stomach? I know you may not find it funny but do you at least understand the joke? I mean, personally? I think it’s funny as fuck.
Allen smirked before walking off camera, his hand tucked back into the pockets of his hoodie.
SINGLES MATCH
Angel Kash vs. Alex Pierce
The next contest saw "The Trillion Dollar Princess" Angel Kash take on OATH veteran "The Fire Fist Ace" Alex Pierce. Angel came to the ring accompanied by her manager Tiffany Lynn Page. Pierce looked less than pleased to not be on the Violent Ends iPay-Per-View itself and he made that known when he didn't wait for the bell to start the match off. Pierce hit Angel with a big spinning backfist and then a series of quick suplexes. He didn't bother to go for a pin, it was clear that he wanted to make a statement. Angel on the other hand, was not interested in that shit.
Angel powdered out of the ring and consulted with Tiffany. Pierce was not looking to entertain this delay of game so he exited the ring and went after Angel. Angel slipped in the ring and when Pierce went to re-enter, Tiffany held his leg. Pierce shook that off and when he got back into the ring Angel hit him with Buyout (Implant DDT)! Angel covered but only got a two count. Pierce was able to rally back and he went for a belly to belly suplex. Before Pierce could get the suplex off Angel knee'd him in the groin (the referee was out of position and didn't see it) and she hit him with Kash Flow (Codebreaker). Angel covered and Tiffany held Pierce's boot from the outside to ensure that he would stay down. He did.
Winner: Angel Kash
#1 CONTENDERSHIP: LIVEWIRE TITLE SINGLES MATCH Allen Chaney vs. Kirios Hunt
The main event of Catalyst saw "The Comedian" Allen Chaney take on "The Huntress" Kirios Hunt to determine the next challenger for the Livewire Championship. Chaney was not received by The Citadel in warm fashion but he didn't seem to give a shit at all. This wasn't the first audience to reject him, see: his failed sitcom. The match began with Chaney immediately powdering out of the ring. He approached the commentary table and took a seat beside Vince Valerie. Chaney put his arm around Valerie nonchalantly.
CHANEY: What up Vince? VALERIE: Uh...just calling your match. What's up with you? CHANEY: Same old man. You know.
It was at this point that Hunt had about enough of this show of disrespect. Hunt exited the ring and approached the announce table. Chaney greeted her by grabbing Valerie's stupid glass bottle of water and soaked Hunt with it. Hunt was momentarily distracted and Chaney got up to knock her with a bionic elbow.
Chaney stomped toward Hunt but was surprised with a snap hurricanrana. Hunt rolled through and mounted Chaney, hitting him with a series of quick punches. Hunt immediately tried to transitioned into an arm bar but Chaney shoved her into the ropes. On Hunt's return Chaney caught her in a bear hug.
The Huntress was able to break Chaney's grip with some sharp elbows to his collarbone but when he let her go, he immediately blasted her with The Setup (Short Arm Lariat). Hunt was seeing stars when Chaney got her back up to her feet and then planted her with The Punchline (Awful Waffle)! Hunt was done for as Chaney covered and got the three count.
