Episode II August 19th, 2019 Montreal, Quebec

— Finn Whelan vs. Jake Archer

The night in Montreal began with the entrance of the OATH World Champion, “The Seattle Saint” Finn Whelan. Whelan got on the microphone and said that he does not care who wins between Agustin Gates and Erik Holland later in the evening because he knows that he can defeat both of them.

This brought out Whelan’s opponent, Jake Archer. Archer said that his career in OATH has been 50/50 so far but tonight will be his coming out party. Archer took a moment to consider his phrasing but carried on. Archer said that he was going to defeat the World Champion and show OATH that he is “The best! The best! The best!” and so on and so forth.

This one started off with some impressive chain wrestling between the two competitors. Whelan got the early upper hand with an arm wrench and elbow smash to the shoulder joint. Ben Petrie mentioned that Whelan needed to soundly defeat Archer tonight or risk looking like a weak champion. Matt Mears countered, saying that Archer is no slouch and a win over Archer is not an easy task for anyone.

Whelan fought to trap Archer in The Underdog (Kimura Lock) but Archer was able to fight out and he put Whelan in a submission of his own, Surprise! (Frontflip Cutter rolled back into a Dragon Sleeper). It seemed like Whelan was going to submit but the champion spun around and took Archer over with a Northern Lights suplex with a bridge for a near fall.

The Seattle Saint looked to capitalize but Archer caught him with The Touch! (Sweet Chin Music set up into a Spinning Backfist) out of nowhere! Archer covered and got a near fall. Not one to waste time, that rascal Archer quickly bombarded Whelan with I Believe I Can Fly! (Moonsault from the bottom turnbuckle, then middle, then finally top) for another near fall and the audience was starting to get behind Archer.

Archer could feel the audience in Montreal on his side and he started to get real arrogant about it. Archer played to the crowd for a bit too long and Whelan caught him with ScRM (Asai DDT). Whelan then scrambled to his feet and put Archer down with Revelation 6:4 (The Bitter End). The World Champion covered and got the three count.

Winner: Finn Whelan

After the bell, Archer got up to a knee but was still dazed from the finish. Whelan was presented with the World Championship. Before leaving the ring, Whelan gave Archer a nod of respect, which got a big reaction from the audience.

— You Need Us

Cut to an off site location, the beautiful streets of Old Montreal. Inside the walls of the beautiful La Bremner restaurant we move to the back of the restaurant and a table where two men sat. One of the men, in his late 30s sported a stern expression and had a glass of merlot in hand. The other, slightly younger, seemed somewhat more pleasant with an old fashioned sitting on the table in front of him.

Bonjour mes amis. Je m’appelle Josh Cherry. C’est mon ami Harvey Carbine. Nous sommes Midnight Special” Cherry said, “And that’s the extent of my French. I haven’t been keeping up with my duo lingo.”

Cherry continued by saying that he and Carbine had heard some “fun rumors” about OATH introducing some tag team titles. Cherry said that tag team wrestling is what “turns our crank” and we want to be in on it. Cherry said that he and Carbine are new to the North American scene but they are considered legends in Brazil, China, New Zealand, Ireland, and most of all in Turkey. Cherry said that the OATH tag team division is very lucky to have a team of their calibre on the roster.

Carbine sat still during the entirety of Cherry’s rant but when he was finally afforded the opportunity to speak, he stared into the camera with palpable intensity. He spoke one sentence to end the segment with a grizzled and stern voice, “We are Midnight Special. You need us.”

— Nina Stokes vs. Veronica Taylor

This one was pretty fucking wild. It was noted that these two had some history out there in another federation but Matt Mears reaffirmed that it’s likely that our audience is not aware of such things, therefore they do not matter.

Even though the past didn’t matter to our audience, it mattered to these two. Not a second after the bell rang, these two went at each other. Stokes attempted a flying armbar but Taylor got out of it right away. The self-proclaimed First Lady of OATH sent Stokes into a corner and used a foot choke to keep her there.

Petrie said that both of these competitors needed to win this match in order to get out of the mid-card pack. Mears said that you’d have to believe that the winner would be in line for an Intrepid Title opportunity.

Stokes turned the tide with her Divine Night (Rolling Elbow) and then attempted Amidst the Shadow of Sorrows III (Boma Ye Knee Strike) but Taylor slipped out of the way. Taylor took Stokes over with a hair mare and then tried for the Beauty Improvement Pass (Curb Stomp) but Stokes dropped to her stomach and powdered to the outside.

The referee started a twenty count but Stokes quickly got back in the ring. Taylor rushed Stokes but ate A Slice of Grace (Throat Punch) and Stokes was able to put Taylor down with Amidst the Shadow of Sorrows III (Boma Ye Knee Strike). Stokes covered and got the victory. Winner: Nina Stokes

— Bested? In the backstage area OATH Interviewer May O’Neil was shown trying to catch up with Jake Archer. O’Neil asked Archer about his match with World Champion Finn Whelan. Archer said that he faced the champion and he lost, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t still “The Best”. Archer said that there would be other matches and that Whelan had not seen the last of “The G.O.A.T.”.

As if on cue, The Celestial Warriors walked into frame. Their leader, Agustin Gates said that someone like Archer calling himself “The Best” is disgusting. Gates said that Archer’s mentality of “there will be other matches” is the attitude of a loser. Gates said that Archer would do well to watch Gates’ match with Erik Holland later to see what “The Best” really looks like.

Archer said that he has faced Holland before and that Gates will be lucky to survive the night, let alone win. Archer then feigned hitting Gates with a superkick which caused Gates to flinch. Before the gang could attack Archer, he ran off down the hall laughing all the way.

— Miguel Villalobos vs. Salvador Blanco

The next match was kind of fucked up. Los Lobo Loco, Miguel Villalobos came to the ring for his first match since Event Horizon Night Seven. We saw him at the Event Horizon Finals when he tried to get involved in the Erik Holland/TERROR match but he was stopped by referees.

This match started with “The White Saviour” Salvador Blanco trying for a handshake but Villalobos popped him right in the mouth. Villalobos then proceeded to maul Blanco, beating him from pillar to post with a heightened sense of intensity from what we were used to seeing.

At one point Blanco rallied back with a series of lucha arm drags and a well placed hurricanranna that sent Villalobos face first into the middle turnbuckle. Blanco then went for a spinning hurricanranna but found himself up on Villalobos’ shoulders and he got dropped with La Mordida del lobo (One-handed Electric Chair Driver).

Winner: Miguel Villalobos

— Scales The bell had just rang when Villalobos kicked Blanco out of the ring and took hold of a microphone, “El Rey Lobo ha sido paciente pero ya ha tenido suficiente. Sé que TERROR está allá afuera y quiero que me enfrente. Sé que estás viendo esto ahora mismo Ryan y quiero una respuesta para la próxima semana. Sal y enfréntame por tu cuenta o te encontraré y te destrozaré.” [The Wolf King has been patient but he has had enough. I know that Bob is out there and I want him to face me. I know you are watching this right now Ryan and I want an answer by next week. Come out and face me on your own or I will find you and I will rip you apart.]

Villalobos then spiked the microphone on the mat and went to leave the ring but the lights dimmed. The audience in Montreal was ready for a sneak attack but they didn’t get one because the screen lit up. A tent had been set up in a field somewhere. The visual quality was that of a simple handheld camera. People sat in rows on wooden chairs dressed in their Sunday best. The hum of a generator could be heard in the background but was drowned out by the man at the head of the group. He, like the others, was dressed in his Sunday best and sweat beaded down his forehead. He took out his handkerchief and patted his brow several times. The group were their hymn books to create a cooling breeze on this balmy day.

“Folks, I want you to know that God is everything. He is all seeing and He is all knowing. He is the end all be all and He is watching each and every one of you. Now then, the time has come to show God that you love Him. Make a donation to the Lord today.”

As the preacher continued speaking, a figure wearing a leather jacket over blue jeans, a red shirt, and black boots made his way towards the man. The people noticed him but just as quickly paid him no mind. They were focused on gathering their dollars and cents to give to the charismatic preacher. The preacher smiled as people placed their hard earned money into the collection plate.

The man in the leather jacket gathered himself a moment before stepping up to the pulpit. The leather clad figure started to charge the man in front. He picked up speed as the man spoke.

“I thank you all for…” This was all the preacher got out before being nailed with a hockey style body check from the leather clad figure. The force sent the preacher back about three feet which is not very far but for shock value it was pretty fucking far. The leather clad figure turned to face the congregation as the person who held the camera rushed to the front for a better shot. The man in the leather jacket revealed himself to be OATH’s own TERROR. TERROR looked out at the congregation who all wore expressions of shock.

“That…” TERROR said as he pointed at the fallen man. “…is the definition of the word hypocrite. He has the balls to come up here and talk about good triumphing over evil. When in reality neither side will EVER win. Yet you sit here and lap it up like mindless fucking sheep.” TERROR said as the congregation gasped at his use of (what they deemed to be) inappropriate language.

“He stands up here, does a little song and dance which, I guess, guilts you into coughing up your hard earned income. This is the reason that the world is going down the shitter. The balance is starting to tip to one side. This is unacceptable. This is where I come in.” TERROR told everyone in attendance. The camera man came in a bit closer and focused in on TERROR’s face.

“I AM the man who maintains the balance. I AM the man who keeps everyone in check. And I WILL be the man who puts everyone on notice. You TIP my scales. You end up like that fat fuck on the ground over here. TERROR will be coming for you. So don’t get too cocky.” TERROR said before he walked away from the scene. Several male members of the congregation helped the fallen man to his feet and dusted him off. TERROR had struck again.

Cut back to the arena and the lights came back up. Villalobos stood in the middle of the ring, seething that his former partner had yet to properly address him.

— Casey Holliday & Chastity Vice vs. The Inevitable

The next contest saw the makeshift tag team of Casey Holliday and Chastity Vice take on the newly formed duo of Leah and Stephanie Matsuda. Before the match began, Holliday and Vice were shown arguing over who would start the match, with Vice eventually getting the nod.

Leah started the contest for her team and proceeded to beat the shit out of Vice without much offense from the latter. Following a big boot and a snap German suplex on Vice, Leah tagged in Matsuda. The two hit Vice with an impressive double sling blade (don’t @ me, it’s possible) and Matsuda covered for a two count. Holliday was begging to get into the ring but Vice was too busy getting hit with Final Heaven (Springboard Forearm Smash) from Matsuda.

Luckily for Holliday, the shot from Matsuda sent Vice sailing back toward their corner. Holliday hit Vice with a blind tag and entered the ring. Matsuda was caught off guard as Holliday flew into the ring with a Springboard Tornado DDT which spiked Matsuda into the mat. Matsuda was able to make the tag to her partner Leah but Leah ran right into a single knee facebuster from Holliday for a two count.

At this point, Vice was standing on the apron hurling insults at Holliday, which served as a distraction. This afforded Leah the opportunity to take Holliday down with a springboard moonsault. Leah then got Holliday up and slammed her onto the mat with a sitout powerbomb. Leah covered but Holliday got a foot on the bottom rope. Leah set Holliday up for a running big boot but Holliday caught her and took her over with a capture suplex.

Matt Mears noted that if Vice and Holliday could just figure out their issues, they might be able to defeat The Inevitable. Well that shit didn’t happen because as Holliday went to tag in Vice, Vice decided that she was done with this match. Vice dropped off the apron and stood with her arms crossed at ringside.

Leah was able to tag in Matsuda and when Holliday attempted to go the match alone, but Matsuda and Leah nailed her with a double dropkick. Leah quickly gathered up Holliday’s limp body and put her down with Drop The Bomb (Dead Eye). As Holliday hit the mat, Matsuda was already on the top rope. Matsuda came off the top Perfect Blue (Corkscrew Shooting Star Press) for the pinfall and the victory.

Winners: The Inevitable

The Inevitable celebrated their victory and Chastity Vice got into the ring. Vice stood over Holliday and berated her, calling her a loser. Vice kicked Holliday in the mid-section and then left the ring.

Before Vice could get all the way up the ramp, Holliday got a microphone. While holding her ribs in agony, Holliday said that she may have lost but she did not quit. Holliday said that Vice is an embarrassment to the sport and that Vice is not half the wrestler that Holliday is.

Vice stopped dead in her tracks and turned her attention back to the ring with a snarl.

“You want to prove me wrong? Come do it right now.” Holliday said. Holliday gestured to the referee and the referee got on his ear piece. A few seconds later the referee nodded, the match was made official.

— Chastity Vice vs. Casey Holliday

Vice came back down to the ring and once she was ready, the bell rang. Vice rushed Holliday in attempt to capitalize on Holliday’s injured ribs. Vice came in a bit too hold because Holliday caught her with a single knee facebuster! Holliday then quickly got Vice up and nailed her with the Stock Plunge (Corkscrew Neckbreaker)! Holliday covered and got the surprise pinfall. Winner: Casey Holliday

— Off Broadway

Declan Black was shown sitting in what appeared to be a personal library setting. Black was sitting in a large leather chair, with a glass of brandy sat on a table to his left. Black was dressed in a perfectly tailored suit and his face was adorned with his signature smirk. Black announced that following his victory over Devin Brando last week in his hometown of Halifax, he was not medically cleared to wrestle in Montreal. Black said that it was probably for the best because that meant that he did not have to travel to the Canadian embarrassment of Quebec. Montreal did not care for that comment, the desired reaction.

The Pride of Nova Scotia mentioned the World Title Contendership Match for later in the evening and said that he was not angry that he would not be involved. Black said that he had been assured by management that because of his win in the Broadway Match, he was in line for a World Championship match when medically cleared. The audience didn’t like that nugget either.

Black said that he was happy as could be to sit at home in Halifax, where he would keep a keen eye on the contendership match because one of those men could eventually get the privilege of losing to him in an OATH World Title match. Black raised his brandy snifter and the scene cut.

— World Title Number One Contendership: Agustin Gates vs. Erik Holland

This one was kinda fucked. Gates came to the ring alone, which surprised just about everyone. Erik Holland stomped to the ring like the absolute psycho that he is and was ready to separate Gates’ head from his body.

The match started and Gates went to do something that he has become known for — he tried to powder out right off the top. Holland wasn’t having that shit, he slid out of the ring a millisecond before Gates and when they were both ringside Holland blasted Gates with a bicycle knee strike. Holland then introduced Gates’ body to various steel objects around ringside before rolling him back into the ring before the count of twenty.

In the ring Holland tossed Gates around with relative ease until Gates was able to hit Holland with a chop block. Knowing that Holland had a seventy pound weight advantage, Gates deviated from his standard moveset and instead chose to strike and retreat. Gates targeted Holland’s knee with kicks and dropkicks before putting distance between himself and The Most Dangerous. Following a second chop block, Gates stomped on Holland’s knee like his life depended on it. Gates them climbed to the top rope and looked to come off with a giant stomp but Holland caught Gates with Planet Terror (Black Hole Slam).

Holland then resisted his recent penchant for ultraviolence and decided to seal the deal. Holland got Gates up and looked to end the match but Gates spit in his face. Holland paused for just a moment and then turned Gates inside out with a lariat. Holland then collected Gates and dropped him with an emphatic The Toxic Avenger (Death Valley Driver) for the pinfall and victory.

Winner: Number One Contender for the World Championship, Erik Holland

The other three members of The Celestial Warriors came to the ring to collect their leader. It seemed that Carlos Cruz entertained the idea of going after Holland but Holland’s willingness to fight made Cruz reconsider. The Warriors collected Gates and helped him to the back as Holland motioned that the title would be his.

— Contenders

Backstage Nina Stokes was shown getting settled in front of a monitor, presumably to watch the main event. As she got comfortable, Levi Silvera walked into the frame and although there were many places to sit, he chose to sit right beside her. Stokes scowled and then moved her chair over a few feet. Silvera simply smiled and the two turned their attention to the monitor.

Intrepid Championship: Catriona MacKenzie vs. Samantha Hamilton (c) Before the main event began, Matt Mears went over the rules of Intrepid Title matches. Since this match took place on Conviction, the time limit was 15 minutes. If that time limit was reached without a decision, the champion would retain. But should the champion get counted out or disqualified, the title would change hands.

This one had a lot of pressure on it. It was the first defense of the championship but more than that, both competitors really had something to prove. MacKenzie came out of the gate with a bicycle superkick that rocked Hamilton and MacKenzie dominated the early part of the match. MacKenzie seemingly caught Hamilton off guard and did not let up. Hamilton tried to slow things down, catching MacKenzie in Exiled To Tartarus (Sleeper Hold) but MacKenzie fought out with elbows to Hamilton’s mid-section and then regained the advantage with a leg feed spinning mule kick.

The champion rolled to the outside to try and recover but MacKenzie followed her. MacKenzie sent Hamilton hard into the ring steps and then rolled into the ring and demanded that the referee start a count. Hamilton got back in the ring at a count of twelve but MacKenzie dropped an elbow on her neck then mounted her with a barrage of strikes.

Hamilton took refuge in a corner but MacKenzie charged and went for her patented handspring stinger splash. Hamilton moved out of the way at the last second and took MacKenzie down with Defying The Gods (Frankensteiner).

Both competitors were down but Hamilton was the first back up to her feet. MacKenzie showed tremendous fighting spirit by eating a hard boot to the face and responded with another bicycle super kick. MacKenzie’s lip was busted but it seemed that it only served to motivate her. MacKenzie went for a lariat but Hamilton grabbed her arm, ascended to the top rope and went for Reversal Of Fate (Vertebreaker) but MacKenzie fought out and rolled Hamilton up for a two count.

The ring announcer said that there were ten minutes left and Hamilton came back to life. MacKenzie tried for a headlock but Hamilton turned it into a back suplex, giving the champion some room to breathe. Hamilton set MacKenzie up for Zeus’ Wrath (One Winged Angel) but MacKenzie reversed it into a roll up for another two count.

MacKenzie kept the champion grounded with some stomps and then took Hamilton down with a double handcuff neckbreaker. MacKenzie then called for the end and attempted Beam Me Up Scottie (Fireman’s carry drop into knee lift) but Hamilton slipped out and smashed MacKenzie with a lariat to the back of the neck.

The Titaness set MacKenzie up for Wrath Of The Titans (Pedigree) but MacKenzie countered it with a back drop. MacKenzie then looked to apply the Lassie Lock (Scorpion Cross Lock) but Hamilton rolled her up for the quick three count.

Winner: Still OATH Intrepid Champion, Samantha Hamilton

MacKenzie could not believe it, she kicked out right after the three count but it was over. MacKenzie immediately took Hamilton down again and mounted her. MacKenzie smashed Hamilton again and again with some of the heaviest strikes that we’ve ever seen. Referees and security descended on the ring to break it up but MacKenzie would not relent. After a few minutes, the officials were able to stop the onslaught.

Hamilton retained her title but was bloodied from the post match beat down. MacKenzie was carted off by the officials but it was clear that this was just the beginning of the issues between these two.
