Episode VII September 23rd, 2019 Norfolk, Virginia
— Champion vs. Champion Conviction did not start with its signature video package, instead we cut to the ring. The fans in Norfolk were rabid with enthusiasm but that soon changed when “The Pride of Nova Scotia” Declan Black made his way to the ring.
Armed with a microphone, Declan Black said that many people have speculated that he was nervous about facing Miguel Villalobos in the main event, seeing as how that match is set to be a no disqualification match. Black said that he has been doubted and undermined since arriving in OATH. Black said that his accomplishments so far should speak for themselves.
“I’m always the smartest man in the room.” Black said.
This brought out the OATH World Champion, “The Seattle Saint” Finn Whelan. The champion came out on the stage and questioned whether Black’s overconfidence was a sign of Black’s supposed intelligence. Black referred to last week where he told Whelan, “I am OATH”. Black said that in facing Villalobos in a no disqualification match Black would prove that he is a much more worthy champion than Whelan. Black claimed that he was putting everything on the line tonight, facing a psycho like Villalobos in such a violent environment just a week before Brutalism.
Whelan said that he couldn’t argue with that. Whelan went a step further and said that he had been thinking about that very idea since last week and that it wouldn’t be right if he didn’t up the stakes in his own match.
“That’s why I’m out here. If I can not defeat someone as talented as the Intrepid Champion Samantha Hamilton, then I can’t call myself the best.” Whelan said. “That’s why my match against her tonight will be for the OATH World Championship.”
The Seattle Saint dropped the microphone, with the audience electric following that announcement. Whelan held his championship high in the air as we cut to a commercial break.
— Brie Marie vs. Tanay Wilson The first match of the evening saw two hyped up rookies make their debuts. Brie Marie and Tanay Wilson each made their respective entrances and once in the ring they shook hands. This immediately endeared them to the audience in Norfolk.
“Oh great. They’re nice.” Ben Petrie said.
Matt Mears noted that Brie Marie was trained by Stephanie Matsuda, to which Petrie scoffed. The two rookies locked up and traded some quick holds but it resulted in a stalemate. The early show of athleticism impressed the Norfolk fans. Marie tried to send Wilson into a corner with authority but Wilson hopped and reversed the momentum. Marie hit the corner with such force that she began to stagger forward but Wilson was too sudden, she nailed Marie with the Zoom! (Shotgun Dropkick) that sent Marie back into the corner with incredible force.
“The Hype Beast” collected Marie and went for her Tanay Lay (Snap Michinoku Driver) but Marie showed her quickness and slipped behind Wilson. Marie looked to roll Wilson up but released the hold at the last second, hit the ropes and cracked Wilson in the face with the Shining Dash Attack (Shining Wizard). Marie covered for a two count.
Wilson was afforded a few seconds to recover and in that time she flashed a smile at Marie. Marie posed in response – both competitors were clearly enjoying the level of competition between them. Wilson started towards Marie but was caught with a deep arm drag that dropped her neck first on the mat. Marie quickly sat herself on the top rope and went for the Falling Speed Ball (Cannonball from Middle Rope) but Wilson was playing opossum. Wilson rolled out of the way and Marie hit the canvas with a thud.
“The Hype Beast” played to the crowd for a moment and in that time Marie was able to get up but Wilson gave her no space. Wilson took hold of Marie and planted her into the mat with the Tanay Lay (Snap Michinoku Driver). Wilson scrambled into a cover but only got a two count.
“These two are very evenly matched,” Mears said. “With the Tag Team Titles in play after Brutalism, it may be an avenue for them to consider.”
With Marie down on the mat, Wilson climbed to the top rope. Wilson pointed down at Marie and went for Around The World (Swanton Bomb) but at the absolute last second Marie rolled out of the ring. Stunned from the impact on the mat, Wilson found herself at the mercy of Marie’s Total Recall (Front Flip Double Knee Backbreaker). Marie quickly shot the half and hooked Wilson’s leg to get the three count and the victory.
Winner: Brie Marie
The audience gave the contest a standing ovation. Marie had her hand raised by the official but Marie then turned her attention to Wilson. Wilson was still down on the mat when Marie extended her hand in a show of sportsmanship. Wilson accepted it and Marie helped her to her feet. Wilson then raised Marie’s hand and Norfolk ate that shit up. This was nice.
— Absolute Following the commercial break OATH Interviewer May O’Neil was shown backstage with Intrepid Champion Samantha Hamilton, who was without her title. O’Neil welcomed Hamilton to Norfolk and congratulated her on once again defending her Intrepid Championship last week on Conviction. Hamilton was humble in her response and explained that as the first Intrepid Champion she couldn’t imagine not defending the title whenever and wherever. Hamilton said that although Veronica Taylor stole the title belt from her last week, she would get it back at Brutalism.
This prompted O’Neil to ask about the real story at hand – O’Neil said that Hamilton this morning Hamilton was set to have the biggest match of her OATH career against Finn Whelan but now the pressure is compounded with the World Championship on the line. O’Neil asked Hamilton how she was feeling.
“I was not expecting to be in a World Championship match tonight, however, things have not really changed. I was ready to face the World Champion so I have been treating this match like the title was going to be on the line. I don’t know if I willed this opportunity into existence but it is here and I am going to make the most of it. I have the opportunity to leave Norfolk as the only champion in OATH. That is not an opportunity that I plan on squandering.” Hamilton said.
Her words echoed with a sense of absolute confidence but they prompted the appearance of the Number One Contender to the Intrepid Championship, “The First Lady of OATH” Veronica Taylor. Taylor did not have the title belt with her but as had become the custom in the past few weeks, Veronica was seconded by her mother.
Veronica mockingly applauded Hamilton and told the Intrepid Champion that she was excited for her. She told Hamilton not to worry about the Intrepid Title belt and that it was in a safe place. Veronica said that tonight was a massive opportunity for Hamilton and that Veronica had all the faith in the world in Hamilton. Veronica said that no matter what happens tonight, Hamilton would be defending the Intrepid Title at Brutalism against The First Lady.
“Should you win the World Title tonight, it will make my victory against you at Brutalism that much sweeter. Not only will I be Intrepid Champion, but I will have legitimately claim to being the absolute best wrestler in OATH. So good luck!” Veronica said with feigned humility.
Veronica and her mother left the frame, leaving the Intrepid Champion to consider the challenger’s words.
— Ben Akuma vs. Hanna Akana The next contest saw the debut of “The Fifth Seal” Ben Akuma against Hanna Akana. Matt Mears noted that Akuma was a graduate of the Squires of Wrestling Academy in the Koei Dojo and is considered by many wrestling pundits as a high potential prospect.
Akuma’s cold demeanor was on display from the get go in the contest. Following an arm wrench and an elbow smash to the shoulder joint of Akana, Akuma put her on the mat with Fall of Man (Suplex Clutch Transitioned into a Flying Armbar). Akana scrambled to reach the bottom rope and made it.
Akuma continued his assault with a flurry of sadistic stomps. So brutal was this onslaught that the referee had to intervene to check on Akana. Akana gave the go ahead that she could continue but when she started toward Akuma he hit her with a Yakuza kick and then put her on the mat with Masamune (Wrist-Lock Knee Strike). Akuma covered to get the three count in convincing fashion.
Winner: Ben Akuma
— Dare In the backstage area Nina Stokes was shown in a dimly lit area. Stokes said that she doesn’t need some human mic stand like May O’Neil to interview her. Stokes said that she is perfectly capable of making her intentions known on her own. Stokes said that she has heard rumors of there being a big opportunity coming up at Brutalism and if the rumors are true then she wants her shot. “I don’t need a partner. I don’t need my hand held. What I need is for this goddamn company to realize what I have to offer. I don’t want to be handed anything, just give me a chance and I will take this company by storm. Watch what I do to Casey Holliday and try to deny me. I dare you.” Stokes said before the scene cut to commercial.
— Casey Holliday vs. Nina Stokes The fans have grown used to Casey Holliday’s positive attitude since she debuted in OATH but when she made her entrance in Norfolk the young star seemed less than enthusiastic. Matt Mears commented that Holliday had distanced herself from everyone backstage since arriving in Virginia and that several OATH employees had noted her change in demeanor.
It probably didn’t help that when the bell rang for this contest, Stokes rushed Holliday and cracked her in the mouth with Divine Night (Rolling Elbow Smash). Holliday’s lack of motivation allowed Stokes to dominate the early part of this match with strikes and suplexes.
At one point Holliday screamed at Stokes to hit her harder and Stokes obliged with A Slice of Grace (Throat Punch) that left Holliday gasping, unable to breathe for the moment. Stokes took advantage of this by applying the Quietus Redux (Crossface-Chickenwing) for the submission victory. Winner: Nina Stokes
Stokes only enjoyed her victory for a brief moment before leaving the ring, her point proven. The real story was Holliday left sitting in the middle of the ring, her head down and her spirit broken. Petrie wondered what exactly was going on with the normally bubbly competitor and Mears responded by saying that they would only get an answer when Holliday was ready.
— Here We Stand Before the World Championship match, the much despised Celestial Warriors came to the ring. Well, two of them at least. Agustin Gates and Carlos Cruz entered the ring and Gates took hold of a microphone. Gates talked about how at Event Horizon he was in the first ever OATH World Championship match and at Brutalism he was being relegated to facing a nobody like Locke Helms.
The audience did not agree with that description.
Gates continued, saying that he was not at odds with the match because he is willing to work his way back up to the main event. He said that dominant performance at Brutalism would show the OATH head office that he was still here, and still a threat.
“But I know that Helms is likely still upset about the humbling that he received at our hands last week so if he wants an opportunity to confront my brother and I then he is welcome to do so. Here we stand.” Gates said before standing with his arms spread.
Helms did not disappoint.
“Gimme The Prize” cued up and Locke Helms wasted no time. Helms ran to the ring armed with a steel chair and slid into the ring. But instead of swinging, Helms tossed the chair at Cruz and it caught him right in the head. Helms then speared Gates to the mat and started unloading on him with rights and lefts.
Gates, in a moment of desperation was able to summon the strength to buck Helms off. Helms rushed Gates immediately after but Gates caught him with a kick to the balls. Gates then mounted Helms and started teeing off on him with a flurry of strikes of his own. Cruz was back up and joined the fray, beating on Helms with his brother.
When it seemed that all hope was lost, a strange saviour came out onto the ramp peering from beneath the brim of a large Stetson hat.
“What the hell is Josie Wales doing out here?” Matt Mears asked.
Wales ran to the ring and slid in under the bottom rope. The Celestial Warriors stopped their onslaught, surprised at Wales’ appearance. Gates asked her what she wanted and after a moment of consideration she responded with a bicycle kick to his face.
“That is what she’s doing, apparently.” Ben Petrie said.
Cruz rushed Wales but also got caught with a bicycle kick. Wales took hold of Cruz and planted him with Rio Lobo Driver (Quackendriver 3) before leaving the ring. Wales collected her Stetson, tipped the brim at Helms and then made her way up the ramp leaving just about everyone in the arena puzzled as we went to commercial.
— World Championship Samantha Hamilton vs. Finn Whelan © This match had a big fight feel as Intrepid Champion, “The Titaness” Samantha Hamilton was introduced first. World Champion, “The Seattle Saint” Finn Whelan was out next. Both competitors got big reactions from the audience. There was no handshake to start this match but a knowing nod from both competitors. The referee presented the World Title to both competitors and then called for the bell.
Right off the hop Hamilton charged Whelan but he was lighter on his feet. Evading a lariat from Hamilton with a front roll, Whelan went for Fenian Rising (Spinning Sit-Out Sleeper Slam) early but Hamilton was able to evade it. Hamilton caught Whelan with a hard elbow to the back of the head and then bounced his face off of the top rope.
A leg sweep takedown put Whelan on the mat and then Hamilton kept him grounded with a series on snap elbow drops. Hamilton then looked to apply a sleeper hold but Whelan slipped out of her grasp. Whelan caught Hamilton with a knee strike to the face and then applied an arm wrench. Hamilton planted her hand and kicked Whelan’s leg out.
Hamilton tried for another quick elbow drop but Whelan rolled out of the way, popped up and stomped on Hamilton’s shoulder several times. Whelan took wrist control and tried for another arm wrench but Hamilton caught him with a brutal palm strike to the face that sent him staggering back into the corner.
“Hamilton’s striking game is near perfect in this match,” Matt Mears said. “If she can land some more big blows then that may be enough to slow Whelan down.”
The Titaness applied an arm wrench of her own and then climbed to the top rope.
Hamilton brings the fight early with an onslaught of strikes. Whelan can’t seem to figure her out. Hamilton walked across the top rope in an incredible display of balance, looking for Fall of Man (Old School Top Rope Jump) but Whelan took a step forward and pushed her off the top rope. As Hamilton fell to the outside, Whelan held onto her arm and it draped across the top rope as she fell. Hamilton fell to the outside and let out in agony.
“Whelan may have just dislocated Hamilton’s shoulder with that move. Such brutality! I love it!” Ben Petrie said.
Knowing that the World Title was slipping through her fingers, Hamilton tried to rally but was clearly favouring her shoulder. She had little time to rally as Whelan came flying through the ropes with a suicide dive that obliterated her.
Calling out to the audience, Whelan started forward and went for Fenian Rising (Spinning Sit-Out Sleeper Slam) again but Hamilton ducked under it. Trying not to lose his momentum, Whelan quickly attempted a lock up but Hamilton delivered a boot to his midsection and planted him on the outside with Wrath of the Titans (Pedigree)!
“Hamilton has ended many matches with that move! If she can get Whelan in the ring then this match is over!” Mears said.
With the most urgency she’s ever felt in her career, Hamilton loaded Whelan into the ring and once he was on the mat she dove through the ropes into a cover. The audience counted along with the referee but Whelan kicked out at two.
Hamilton didn’t get frustrated, her eyes on the prize. Hamilton got Whelan up and went for Wrath of The Titans again but Whelan planted her with Fenian Rising! Whelan was hurt but he was able to cover. Right before three Hamilton got her foot onto the bottom rope. Within a beat Whelan floated over and took hold of Hamilton’s damaged arm in The Underdog (Kimura Lock). Hamilton let out in pain but was close enough to the ropes to force the break.
Both competitors got back up to their feet but Whelan popped up but Hamilton smashed him with a forearm to the face. Hamilton then went for an O’Connor roll but Whelan held the top rope. Hamilton popped him up onto her shoulders and nailed him with Zeus’ Wrath (One Winged Angel)! Norfolk knew that they were about to have a new champion…before Whelan rolled out of the ring.
“Well that is some shitty luck.” Petrie said.
Hamilton tried to grab Whelan before he fell to the outside and she looked devastated when she couldn’t reach him.
Hamilton took a moment to recover, trying to beat some feeling back into her damaged arm. This afforded Whelan time to get back up on the apron. Whelan went for a strike but Hamilton evaded it, spun Whelan around and applied Exiled To Tartarus (Sleeper Hold) over the top rope. The referee applied a five count but Hamilton dragged him into the ring over the top rope.
“That’s all well and good for Hamilton but she still needs to break the hold!” Mears said.
Mears was right, the referee made Hamilton break the hold, which she did. This gave Whelan the opportunity to hit an arm wrench with such force that it sent Hamilton face first into the mat with a brutal thud. Whelan then gathered her back up and hit her with Revelation 6:4 (The Bitter End) for the pinfall and the victory.
Winner: Still OATH World Champion, Finn Whelan
Whelan had his arm raised and was handed his championship. He looked over both shoulders before disappearing up the ramp. Just as Whelan went through the curtain, Veronica and Mrs. Taylor appeared on the ramp. Veronica was cradling the Intrepid Championship and then mocked Hamilton, pantomiming tears. The shot switched to Hamilton in the ring and she was irate.
— Melt In the backstage area, the trio of Harvey Carbine, Josh Cherry, and Combo XL were shown. Carbine and Cherry were getting ready for their tag team match. Combo stood at the door to the room, acting sentry.
“Okay so shit is getting pretty wild around here,” Cherry said. “But we’ve got the upperhand. We’ve got this big bastard watching our back tonight just in case the Wonder Twins decide to try and ruin our party.”
“We need to be focussed on the task at hand Joshua. Thot Chocolate are no joke and we need all of the momentum we can get going into Brutalism.” Carbine said. “I want the Tag Team Titles.”
Carbine was plain in his speech, trying to instill some sense of unity between he and his younger partner. Cherry seemed to listen.
“You’re right old man. I know that I get out of line talking shit on Twitter but tonight I’m focussed man. We’re gonna do this for Doug. Your brother is gonna be proud of what we do here tonight my man. Then we’re gonna roll into Atlanta and take those fuckin’ tag team titles.” Cherry said.
The younger member of Midnight Special stood, snapping the final piece of tape from his wrist. Cherry approached Combo and smacked him on the chest.
“You ready big man? You got our backs?” Cherry asked.
Combo simply grunted.
“Then let’s go melt some fuckin’ chocolate boys.” Cherry said, turning to Carbine. Cherry held out his hand to Carbine. Carbine considered it for a moment and then smirked. Carbine accepted Cherry’s hand and was pulled to his feet.
“Quote it.” Carbine said and the scene cut.
— Midnight Special vs. Thot Chocolate This next one was nothing short of a clusterfuck. Once both teams were in the ring, “Turn Down For What” cued up and prompted a collective groan from the crowd in Norfolk. Maximum Dynamite danced down the ramp and once they hit ringside, they both sat at the commentary booth.
“Thanks for having us Mr. Petrie,” Elijah Dynamite said. “We just wanted to get a better look at the people we’re gonna body at Brutalism.”
Josh Cherry and SILK started the match with SILK trying to goad into the fight with a “come hither” motion. Cherry responded by flipping him off. The two locked up but Cherry got the upper hand with an arm drag takedown. Cherry kept SILK grounded with a key lock and then dragged him to the Midnight’s corner. Cherry tagged in Carbine and together they dropped SILK with a double spinebuster.
Carbine kept SILK grounded with a key lock of his own but SILK fought up and cracked Carbine with a spinning back elbow. SILK then kicked Carbine in the mid-section and planted him with B.J. [Break Jaws] (Stunner). SILK, having navigated the early onslaught, dove and tagged in Cartier. Carbine was on all fours, trying to get up but Cartier flew at him and hit him with a baseball slide to the face.
Cartier approached Cherry and spit in his face. Cartier took one step back and then flew at Cherry and hit him with a hip attack that took him off of the apron. Cartier slapped her phat ass and then charged at Carbine, running through him with a spear.
“Goddamn Cartier is running the game right now.” Steve Maximum said. “She wouldn’t be able to do that against us!”
“Didn’t they already to that against you a few weeks ago?” Matt Mears said.
“Nah man you’re misremembering.” Dynamite said.
Cartier dragged Carbine over to the Thot Chocolate corner and tagged in SILK. With Cherry down on the outside, Thot Chocolate set Carbine up for Sweet Tooth (SILK gets the opponent up in a wheelbarrow lift and Cartier jumps off the top rope and connects with a Codebreaker as SILK leans forward to drive the opponent into the Codebreaker with as much force as possible.) but Carbine rolled through and sent SILK into Cartier’s knees.
Cherry was back up on the apron and Carbine was able to make the tag. Cartier tried to rush them but Carbine cut her in half with a spear of his own. SILK got to his feet and Cherry met him with Cherry’s Jubilee (Jump Stalling Sidekick). Cherry then pulled SILK into the Cherry Popper (Bloody Sunday) but before he could cover he noticed a commotion on the outside!
“Oh shit it’s The Inevitable and they are going after Combo XL!” Ben Petrie said.
“Damn! That big guy is getting roughed up!” Maximum said.
Leah and Stephanie Matsuda had come through the crowd and nailed Combo XL with Double Yahtzee (Stereo Superkicks). Combo didn’t go down but he was rocked, so The Inevitable hit him with Slay (Total Elimination).
“Nighty night big man!” Dynamite said.
Cherry was distracted by the fight on the outside which gave SILK the opportunity to hit him with SILKY Smooth DDT (Destino – Somersault Reverse DDT). Cartier and Carbine were occupied beating the shit out of each other as SILK covered and earned the three count.
Winners: Thot Chocolate
Immediately after the sound of the bell Maximum Dynamite left the commentary position and slid into the ring. Dynamite surprised SILK by lifting him up for a spinebuster as Maximum hit a springboard and they hit SILK with TNT (Diving European Uppercut and Spinebuster).
Cartier tossed Carbine into the corner and then went after Maximum Dynamite but Cherry caught her with a forearm to the face. Cherry called out to Carbine and they turned Cartier inside out with Minutes to Midnight (Sling Blade [Cherry] / Backside Spear [Carbine]).
The mayhem continued when The Inevitable entered the ring and started brawling with everyone. Security arrived on the scene but the warring four teams could not be contained. The battle continued into the commercial break.
— The Very Most Dangerous Back from the commercial and mayhem was still happening in the ring. The four teams could not be separated and Norfolk was loving every second of it. That’s when the tron lit up and we cut to the parking lot.
Erik Holland was shown sitting on the hood of a car when May O’Neil approached. O’Neil kept her distance from The Most Dangerous but asked him why he wanted to speak with her. Holland explained that like Nina Stokes, he too had heard about the opportunity that was rumored to happen at Brutalism. “I make it my business to know about things before they happen. I will not be left off of Brutalism. My message to the OATH office is this; put me in that match or suffer the consequences.” Holland said.
There was a moment of tension between Holland and O’Neil when a voice came through the ether with a simple message of it’s own.
“You’re busy that night.” It said.
The camera panned up to show Jake Archer standing on the roof of the car, with a chair. Holland had no time to react as Archer absolutely flattened him with a chairshot to the head. Holland fell off of the hood of the car and Archer came off the roof of the car with a double foot stomp.
Archer then turned to O’Neil.
“Hi. Allow me to reintroduce myself, I’m Jake Archer.” Archer said. “And I’m The Very Most Dangerous.”
Holland was bloodied by now and Archer got the big man up and dragged him back up onto the hood. In an impressive show of strength Archer got Holland up and drove his head through the windshield of the car with Holland’s own finisher, The Toxic Avenger (Death Valley Driver). Holland was fucked right up and the shot closed with Archer sitting beside Holland’s still body, on the hood of the car.
“See you at Brutalism, motherfucker.”
— Tabula Rasa Back in the arena and the four tag teams had finally been separated, the ring was clear. We then transition to Ben Petrie and Matt Mears standing at the commentary table. On the table in front of them lay a black velvet bag.
“This seems like as good a time as any to address the rumors that have been swirling around.” Matt Mears said.
“Both Nina Stokes and Erik Holland somehow found out about this announcement early but it’s time that everyone knows what they are talking about.” Ben Petrie said.
“In an effort to provide more opportunities to our growing roster, a new singles championship will be awarded at Brutalism. The person who holds this title will be given the unique opportunity to decide which match type they defend it in.” Mears said.
Petrie reached forward and picked up the bag. He pulled out a brand new championship belt which got a big reaction from the fans in Norfolk.
“This is the OATH Pro Wrestling Tabula Rasa Championship,” Petrie said. “At Brtualism five competitors will compete in a War of Attrition Match. The match will start with two competitors and every two minutes a new competitor will enter. Competitors can be eliminated by pin, submission, knockout, or by being put through a table.” “So it’s clearly a no disqualification match.” Mears said snidely. “The last competitor standing will be the first Tabula Rasa Champion and they get a blank slate, they decide what type of match they defend it in.”
The audience loved this shit.
“The competitors will be Cartriona MacKenzie, Casey Holliday, Miguel Villalobos, Nina Stokes, and TERROR.” Petrie said.
“Best of luck to those involved.”
— No Disqualification Declan Black vs. Miguel Villalobos This match barely got started as once both competitors were in the ring, TERROR marched down the ramp. Miguel Villalobos looked beside himself and Declan Black looked happy as a pig in shit. TERROR took his time and once he reached the ring, Black held the ropes open for him.
“I feel like Black didn’t see this coming but he is more than happy to see TERROR. Villalobos is now at a distinct disadvantage.” Matt Mears said.
TERROR slowly entered the ring and took his time approaching Villalobos. Black kicked his feet up in the corner and gestured for TERROR to proceed. The former partners had a staredown until TERROR slowly turned and faced Black.
“Uh oh.” Ben Petrie said.
A look of horror overcame Black as Villalobos took a step forward and stood beside TERROR. Black tried to scramble to exit the ring but Villalobos shot forward and grabbed him. Villalobos tossed Black at TERROR’s feet and “The Pride of Nova Scotia” was trapped.
“What the hell is this? Is Enigma Protocol back together?” Mears said.
“Who knows? But Black may not make it to Brutalism!”
As Enigma Protocol closed in on Black the audience exploded because Finn Whelan came running to the ring. Norfolk was on their feet for the World Champion.
“What the hell is Finn Whelan doing? Black is coming for his title at Brutalism!” Petrie said.
“He’s doing the right thing.” Mears said.
Whelan slid into the ring and did not wait to make a move. Whelan tackled Villalobos and laid into him with a series of punches. TERROR watched for a moment before he cracked Whelan in the back of the head with Out of the Shadows (Superkick). Black got to his feet and considered his options for a moment.
“What’s he going to do?” Mears said.
“The right thing.” Petrie said.
Black’s expression turned from indecision to a smirk before he dropped to his back and exited the ring. TERROR sent Whelan into the ropes and with Villalobos he planted Whelan with Schrödinger’s cat (Dudley Death Drop).
“Declan Black is a complete piece of shit.” Mears said.
“Yeah and he’ll be World Champion at the end of Brutalism.” Petrie said.
As Black watched from the ramp with a smile, Enigma Protocol got Whelan up and planted the World Champion with The Paradox Solution (Cop Killa/Ghetto Stomp). Conviction closed with Whelan laid out and Black standing tall at the top of the rampway.
