Episode XL Sunday November 29th, 2020 The Citadel in Toronto, Ontario

“Wet Blanket” by Metz kicked up and the opening hype video for Conviction rolled on screen. Various action shots featuring an assortment of OATH talent played one after another, all tinged with a goldenrod hue. The final five shots showed us the champions of OATH; El Diablo Blanco, James Edwards, FM Young, Viola Mancini, Janica Jayden and finally Reo Ojima.

Smash cut to The Citadel in Toronto, Ontario where a hoard of OATH fans were rowdy and waiting for Conviction 40 - a landmark episode in the history of OATH Pro Wrestling. After surveying the audience we go to ringside.

MEARS: Welcome wrestling fans to the fortieth episode of OATH Pro Wrestling Conviction. I am Matthew Mears and I am here alongside my broadcast colleague “Bad Mood” Ben Petrie. Forty episodes Bad Mood, what a feat!

PETRIE: Fuck everyone who said we wouldn’t last. We aren’t only lasting, but we are fuckin’ thriving.

MEARS: I couldn't agree more and tonight we have a massive card to celebrate forty episodes of Conviction. To start us off tonight we will see Johnny Draco look to make good on his challenge from last week as he takes on “The Eternal” Jonathan Cage.

PETRIE: I’m fuckin’ hyped to see “The Black Metal Witch” Jamie Emmerson back in singles competition. Tonight she’s gonna make an example of “Lady Limitless” Alex Andrews and teach the world why you don’t fuck with the Daughters of Darkness.

MEARS: That should be a highly competitive contest that is tinged with personal issues. The match that will follow is a full blown grudge match as “The Chairman of Chaos” Locke Helms teams with his rival “The Fire Fist Ace” Alex Pierce to take on the cousins Jenna Sharpe and Switchblxde.

PETRIE: The Sharpes just need to take the L and walk away. Kind of like Stephanie “Cloud” Matsuda. She has to try and dethrone the dominant Intrepid Champion, “The Tiger” FM Young in our first of two championship matches tonight.

MEARS: I personally believe that Stephanie has all the tools to win yet another championship here in OATH. But do the Super Kawaii Thunder Liger Squadron have what it takes to take the Tag Team Championship from Mancini Syndicate?

PETRIE: No! They’ve already proven that they can’t hang with Viola. They lost at Violent Ends and they will lose again here tonight. Hopefully they disband and then I never have to see the rat again.

MEARS: I’m sure that Volta the capybara will still be seen all over the arena.

PETRIE: I was talking about Minoru Tanahashi.

MEARS: That is unkind. But we will be kind and get this episode of Conviction rolling. Wrestling fans, let us begin.

The time had finally come for the fans to see another great event booked by OATH Pro Wrestling. Johnny Draco was pacing himself around the hallway of the backstage area in the arena. The cameras soon tried to get a clear view of the man himself, who just a week ago had lost his second title opportunity. A feeling that often played through his mind, recently had been the thought of failing. He hated letting the fans down who had come to watch him during each match. Yet they had also been somewhat of a problem for him recently.

DRACO: If only I didn’t get distracted by their respect for me. Tonight, I have to be the one who gets the job done.

These words leave his lips softly, he knew they were the truth. He knew he played too much into the crowd for their reaction. Perhaps, for a second trying to gain more of their recognition for his hard work. Though, at a moment’s notice they distracted him from his ultimate goal to defeat his opponents. When the cameras finally showed Johnny Draco’s face it gave off a sense of doubt. He knew he had to shake off his recent loss against James Edwards. He tried to focus on tonight’s match against Cage. His eyes staring towards his manager Tiffany Lynn Page’s direction. Who at the moment had been leaning up against the hallway wall. Her eyes staring towards her client with pride that he was a success story.

DRACO: Tiffany, do you think I let the fans into my head too much?

TIFFANY: To be honest Johnny, you kind of do at the wrong moments in your matches. You try to showboat in front of them, just for another inch of their respect. Some might consider that a weakness and others have also capitalized on those moments. This has often caused you to be defeated when your mind shifts towards the wrong things. The one thing that separates great superstars from those who fail to realize their potential; It is that they know how to harness and control this distraction from the fans.

DRACO: I do have to admit I love the respect. Though, at times I also feel as though you’re right they hold me back from being in a more worthy spotlight. A spotlight that shows me being the workhorse I pride myself on. I should have won against James Edwards at Conviction last week. It was my one chance to prove my value as a future champion. A milestone that as a current competitor here in OATH Pro Wrestling I take honor in achieving. I need to learn to stop caring about what these fans think about me. I feel it will help me to be free minded when the bell rings during my matches.

TIFFANY: Nobody is telling you that you shouldn’t care about the fans. I mean after all it is for them that we showcase our talents in front of. The fans have both a good aspect and a bad aspect as well that comes with them. The good being the recognition you get when a fan is impressed, the bad being this same recognition can cause you to lose sight on things most important. Tonight, I want you to try to go into that ring without thinking about anything else. Focus on getting the win because you are the star this federation deserves. I don’t want you to lose sight of what's important here in OATH Pro Wrestling. The important chances that await you if you can show that you’re worth them.

DRACO: I do deserve the chances that await me in OATH Pro Wrestling in the near future. Though, I know my time will one day come where I find myself prideful of carrying a belt. It must be done through my hard work and talent that dictates these chances. I am going to that ring tonight with an intention of proving the fans no longer can distract me. It will be a hard task to complete because these fans are like my family. Together we build and create a bond through each moment spent in the ring. Yet it is up to me to get the job done for myself instead of being held back by my fans’ distractions. I know I can defeat that failing talent of a competitor known as Jonathan Cage.

These words escaped Johnny Draco’s lips as he stared in Tiffany’s direction. His mind focusing on the match at hand that night. Each second bringing him closer to the moment he would be facing Jonathan Cage. A man who recently had come to Conviction, only to fail at a debuting moment at the previous Conviction. Though, this was something Johnny Draco had looked to capitalize on. He knew his opponent had a lot to prove that night, only he would be there to stop him in his footsteps. A mistake given from his opponent would be a moment he could gain control in.

“Make no mistake about it, I’ll be coming out on top tonight.”

These words played through his mind as he stood in the hallway. Yet that night he had to fight the urge of paying too much into the crowd. It was the only way he could prove he was more than a showboating competitor. A true rising gem on the roster of OATH Pro Wrestling. He listened to what Tiffany had to say as some of it had made sense to him. There were moments he found it hard not to show the fans he had cared. Yet there would be a time where, he had to prove he was something worth paying attention to.

TIFFANY: When that day comes you will make a great champion. A champion that pays homage to the hard work the former champions put in before your reign. Tonight, is just a tipping point of the journey ahead of you in OATH Pro Wrestling. Speaking of your opponent, how are you feeling after he showed up at the last Conviction trying to steal the respectful moment between you and James Edwards?

DRACO: You see I have no respect for a man that tries to steal the spotlight. A spotlight that after watching his remaining time on Livewire. It simply doesn’t deserve to be on top of him, it should be on the more worthy competitors. Competitors that prove their worth and value in every match they are booked in. Tonight, I show Johnathan Cage why I’m one of the best rising stars here in OATH Pro Wrestling. A moment I will take great pride in knocking him down a few more steps. His failed debut moment will mean nothing compared to the loss he ends up with tonight.

TIFFANY: That’s the spirit Johnny, you have the heart and willpower of a true talented wrestler. You just have to embrace it without these fans and your opponent in your head. Let’s show OATH Pro Wrestling the real reason they signed you tonight. It is because you have what it takes to give a high performance each week. Tonight, we find pride and enjoyment in reaping the upcoming chances that will be bestowed on you in the future. Thus, leaving Johnathan Cage wishing he was still back on Livewire.

DRACO: Tonight, we will find glory in the victory held over Jonathan Cage. A moment where we give OATH Pro Wrestling a reason to recognize me for my hard work. I am winning this match with or without the fans behind me. A match that means I do deserve those opportunities that lay ahead of my career in this federation. After this match Johnathan Cage won’t be just wishing he was back on Livewire. He will be regretting the moment he failed to make an impact consecutively these two weeks. Thus, proving he is nothing more than a one trick pony fluming on a tragically failing career.

TIFFANY: Trust me when I say you are ready for tonight’s match. While, your opponent loves to play mind tricks. Tonight, is the moment you show the world you’re able to adapt to these tricks. At the end of the match earning some respect for yourself by pulling off the unthinkable. Johnathan Cage will soon learn he’s no longer the star he once was. As time always does seem to destroy one’s integrity. It also taints the talent as a wrestler becomes rusty. He should’ve stayed on Livewire, Conviction is no place for a has been veteran.

These lasting words would leave Tiffany’s lips while she glanced towards the camera's direction. Johnny Draco was proud of the chance he was given last week. Perhaps the underdog in many of his matches, he still proved each second, he was worth something in that ring. The two continue to discuss the match with an intention of building more confidence in Draco. A moment where he could let the self-doubt of succeeding to rest.

Jonathan Cage stood in a hallway of the Citadel. He paced back and forth for a few moments before a familiar voice called out to him.

VOICE: Daddy!

Cage stopped dead in his tracks and looked in the direction of the voice. The camera pulled away to see Cage’s daughter, Adrestia Nyx, standing in front of her father.

CAGE: Cheyenne!

She hadn’t heard anyone call her by that name in months. It felt good to her as she smiled and wrapped her arms around her dad. Cage smiled and returned the embrace.

CAGE: It’s so good to see you, baby girl. How is my grandson?

Adrestia smiled at the mention of her son.

NYX: He’s doing wonderful. He’s a bright, bouncy, hyper little boy. Just like his Papa.

Jonathan smiled widely.

CAGE: How you doing with your boy Ryan?

This sparked a different reaction from Adrestia. She grimaced and ran her hand through her hair.

NYX: Ryan’s different...at least that’s what I can see. He doesn’t talk to me as much. It’s like dealing with a man possessed.

A beat.

CAGE: He’s got passion but honestly I think his head is in the wrong place. You got to figure things out with him. I see big things for you guys.

Another beat.

NYX: I do too. You’ve got a big match on your plate as well. This guy Johnny Draco, he’s quite headstrong isn’t he?

Cage laughed and smiled.

CAGE: He is headstrong which is great to see in the next generation. Yet, he’s going to find out what this wiley veteran can do in the ring. I may be old but I’m not fucking senile. When I’m done with him, I go for that Tabula Rasa title. I’ve got a couple of ideas for matches for that title.

A beat.

NYX: Well, good luck tonight Daddy. I’m going to go check on Ryan. I love you.

CAGE: Love you too, babygirl.

The two hugged again before Adrestia turned to leave her Dad to his match preparations.

SINGLES MATCH Johnny Draco vs. Jonathan Cage

The first match of the night saw up and comer Johnny Draco look to make good on his challenge from last week as he took on “The Eternal” Jonathan Cage. Following Draco’s loss to James Edwards last week, Cage appeared on the scene and in the most subtle of ways he made his intent to become Tabula Rasa Champion clear. Draco took exception to that and it led to this match here.

Cage blindsided Draco off the bell with a vicious forearm smash that appeared to catch Draco in the ear. Not the start that Draco wanted at all. Cage kept Draco grounded with some stomps and then took him over with a vertical suplex. The determination in Cage was palpable.

MEARS: One cannot doubt someone like Jonathan Cage. He came to OATH and made an immediate impact, winning the Livewire Championship.

PETRIE: And now he’s on Conviction to fuck people up. This guy is a veteran. A name. Johnny Draco? He isn’t shit.

MEARS: I feel that he will be -- in time.

Draco tried to compose himself on the outside, doing his best to stay focussed on the match and not his adoring fan base. Although Draco’s fans were loud, they quieted right down when Cage flew through the ropes and took Draco down with a tope suicide. Cage seemed quite pleased with himself.

The veteran Cage battered Draco around the ringside area, introducing Draco’s face to ever solid metal object that he could find. Draco took a swing, using his boxing experience but Cage caught him off with a kick to the midsection and was able to hit him with a DDT on the floor. That little diddy completely silenced the crowd. “Where is Johnny Draco? This sure ain’t him.” Cage said before kicking Draco in the ribs.

PETRIE: This is actually a great match fer Draco. He can get the shit kicked out of him by Cage, lose, then watch the tape and learn from it.

MEARS: Jonathan Cage’s arrogance has cost him in the past. It was not but a few weeks ago that he lost the Livewire Championship to El Diablo Blanco.

PETRIE: I have no memory of that.

MEARS: You were at ringside when it happened.

The Eternal sent Draco back into the ring and Draco tried to rally back but Cage caught him with a surprise roundhouse kick and then floored him with a rolling elbow. Cage scolded Draco with a wag of his index finger, “No no no” he said. Cage hoisted Draco up into a fireman’s carry and went for the Repentagram (F5) but Draco turned it into a tornado DDT.

With the audience on his side, Draco went to the desperation zone and hit Cage with a risky piledriver. Draco was quick to climb to the top rope and rather than play to the fans as he was known to do, Draco leaped from the top rope and nailed Cage with a diving elbow drop.

MEARS: A near fall for Johnny Draco!

PETRIE: He should cherish that moment. Closest he’s gonna get to a win here tonight.

MEARS: I think he has caught Jonathan by surprise and I think he will do it again.

Cage kicked out and the fans did not care for that. Draco hauled Cage up to his feet and then planted him with The Serenity Prayer (Cross Rhodes). The veteran was quite fucked at this point. Draco was more confident now but he resisted the urge to play to the crowd.

PETRIE: You can see it! He wants to acknowledge his fans.

MEARS: He knows that he can’t waste time. He needs this victory.

Instead, Draco climbed to the top rope again and attempted a corkscrew 630° senton but Cage moved out of the way at the last second. Draco popped right back up and although his ribs were damaged, he tried to engage Cage only to get cracked with a Shadow Kick (Superkick). Draco dropped, Cage covered.

The upstart kicked out! Cage hauled him up to his feet and sent him into the ropes with an Irish whip. On Draco’s return, Cage positioned him for a cobra clutch and then dropped him into a backbreaker -- the Death Dealer! Draco was down and now it was Cage who went to the top rope. While perched, Cage taunted the fans and then came back with a moonsault but Draco moved out of the way! Cage ate canvas and Draco trapped him in a magistral cradle!

MEARS: It is over! Johnny Draco is going to put down Jonathan Cage!

1..

2..

..!

PETRIE: The Eternal is...ETERNAL!

Cage just kicked out and The Citadel was bummed to say the least. Draco was not deterred but empowered! He had a veteran on the ropes and it was time to move in for the kill. Draco applied a full nelson and was set to deliver The Mic Drop (Skull Crushing Finale) but something caught his attention outside the ring. And it wasn’t a fan.

MEARS: What in blazes is AJ Jenkynx doing here?

PETRIE: Cage offered to mentor him on the last episode of Livewire. Looks like AJ has accepted that offer. Smart move kid!

AJ Jenkynx had hopped the barricade and had restrained Tiffany Lynn Page! Draco released Cage and then climbed up to the second rope, perhaps looking to dive onto Jenkynx! Security intervened and got Page away from Jenkynx but Cage was up and he hit Draco with a clubbing blow to the lower back. Cage quickly positioned himself and planted Draco with the Dream Killer (Omega Driver)! Cage hooked the leg and Tiffany shouted for Draco to kick out.

Winner: Jonathan Cage

“Forget To Remember” by Mudvayne cued up for only a second but cut as Cage started putting the boots to Draco. Jenkynx entered the ring and started dropping some boots on Draco of his own. The Citadel literally started throwing garbage into the ring as Cage and Jenkynx stomped the shit out of Draco.

MEARS: This is absurd. AJ Jenkynx has joined Jonathan Cage and they are beating the hell out of Johnny Draco right now.

PETRIE: This is a valuable lesson for Draco. Always watch yer six! Ha!

Tiffany entered the ring and tried to intervene but Jenkynx shoved her to the mat. Cage continued to work over Draco as Jenkynx advanced on Tiffany.

MEARS: Leave her out of this! She isn’t a contracted wrestler!

PETRIE: But she got in the ring.

The audience watched as Jenkynx reached down and grabbed Tiffany by the hair. Before he could do anything, he was alerted by a massive pop from the crowd. Tabula Rasa Champion James Edwards charged to the ring armed with his title belt.

MEARS: James Edwards! James Edwards is here!

Cage saw the TR Champion coming and quickly slipped out of the ring. Jenkynx followed suit. Edwards challenged the duo to enter the ring but Cage instructed Jenkynx to stay back. The two backed up the ramp, Cage shouting threats at Edwards.

The scene opened up in a brightly lit room, just a normal little blank room. Sitting in the middle of that room was a solitary folding chair. After a few seconds, a figure walked into the view of the camera, wearing a hoodie. The figure sat down in the chair and slowly pulled the hood back showing a very stern faced Alex Andrews. She sat there for a moment, rubbing her hands together, looking a bit at odds with herself. She cleared her throat and started to speak.

ALEX: You know what's the most aggravating thing about all of this is? We're damned if we do, damned if we don't. Something had to be done with Kevin and The Sweet Boys. Kallie and I had had enough of the harassment and things needed to change, it was beyond stalker territory. Do I regret that it culminated during the Daughters of Darkness match?

She shrugs her shoulders.

ALEX: Maybe a little. That was unfortunate. But what's done is done. Did it warrant a sneak attack in retaliation for their supposed slight? Maybe. Just maybe. But does that mean I'm going to lay down and die, just cause the road got a little bit harder still.

Alex shook her head, still fidgeting with her hands.

ALEX: Not many know this, because all they see is the bright and cheerful persona I try and show the world. But it isn't all rainbows and sunshine, is it? But, I made a choice. To be that positive influence, to be that beacon of hope and light, in a world that can be so loud in its noise. It is a choice every day to try and be a better person, to not stoop to the levels others do on the regular. But, it's not easy. No one sees the pain, the aches behind candy and sweetness. No one sees how rough it is behind closed doors.

A small smile started to crawl up onto her face.

ALEX: I also didn't grow up in this business, I'm not some second generation prodigy gifted everything on a silver platter. I had to claw and scratch for everything I got. It didn't come naturally to me as it might have others, but that just meant I had to outwork everyone else. And work and work and work. So you will not be fighting a pushover. I'm going to make you fight for every inch of ground.

Alex chews her lip a bit as she continues to speak.

ALEX: I know both of you look down on me and Kallie ‘cause of our demeanor. I know this because I have seen the disdain in your eyes. I know this because of how you talk to me. I know this because of how you treated me in FM Young's place, Jamie. But you underestimate me. You underestimate what I've helped accomplish in such a short amount of time. The Sweet Treats are one of the top tag teams in this company whether you like it or not. And all the while, I've kept my eye on you, Jamie. I saw what you did as the Livewire Champion. So I know whom I'm facing, can you say the same?

She lets out a breath as she almost glares at the camera.

ALEX: This isn't going to be a match. It might not even be a fight. The way I see things, it's going to be a war. And I will fight you Jamie. Every step of the way. You two have created such a toxic environment around yourselves and that HAS to end. It might as well be me to stand up to you and say, "No More". I will resist you with all of my heart, all of my mind and, yes, all of my might. Because, you'll see what happens when you push sweetness too far.

Alex slowly stands up as she keeps clenching her fists, trying to keep herself focused and under control as she takes on last glimpse at the camera before walking off and the scene fades to black.

SINGLES MATCH

Alex Andrews w/ Kallie Reznik vs. Jamie Emmerson w/ Lana Corvin

The next contest was a grudge match of sorts. Last week the Daughters Of Darkness, Jamie Emmerson in particular, were attacked by the radical leader of Sweet Treats fans known as The Sweet Boys. Kevin perhaps was a reason why DoD lost to Super Kawaii Thunder Liger Squadron and had they won that match, they might be in this evening’s main event. DoD blamed Sweet Treats for that happening and attacked them in the parking lot later. So here we were, “Lady Limitless” Alex Andrews with Kallie Reznik in her corner taking on “The Black Metal Witch” Jamie Emmerson with Lana Corvin seconding her.

This match didn’t take long to get serious as both competitors went right at each other off the opening bell. Jamie hit Alex with a barrage of quick strikes which was punctuated with a knife edged chop that took Alex off her feet. Lady Limitless looked to rally back with a lariat but Jamie slipped behind her and caught her with a high angle flipping dropkick to the back of the head.

MEARS: Our fans have not really gotten a chance to see a lot of Alex Andrews in singles competition but I assure you that she is a gifted singles competitor.

PETRIE: If she was that gifted then she wouldn’t be hidin’ in the tag team division.

MEARS: Who is hiding? The OATH tag team division is stacked with incredible teams. Retract your statement.

PETRIE: I just think--

MEARS: Retract it!

PETRIE: Okay fuck it’s retracted. Calm the fuck down.

Alex stumbled forward into a corner. Before she had a chance to recover and turn around Jamie charged in and hit her with a double shotgun knees to the back -- squashing her against the top turnbuckle. Lana shouted insults at Alex from ringside and Kallie took exception to that.

Kallie rounded a corner post to engage with Lana but the referee saw it and warned her that he would eject her ass if there were any shenanigans on the outside. This momentary distraction provided Jamie with the opportunity to rake Alex’s eyes and then plant her with Athame (Hooking Superkick from behind). Alex was laid out and Jamie covered.

Alex was able to kick out and the fans collectively breathed a sigh of relief. Kallie pounded on the apron, trying to motivate her partner. Lana glared through the ropes, disgusted by Kallie. Lana shouted something at her and it was clear that Kallie was showing great restraint in not attacking her.

The Black Metal Witch whipped Alex into the corner and followed that up with a running dropkick to the face. Alex staggered out of the corner, not knowing which way was up. Jamie smirked and decided that she wanted to do the exact same thing again.

MEARS: The former Livewire Champion has been dominant thus far. What, in your opinion Bad Mood, does Alex have to do to get back into this fight?

PETRIE: I dunno.

MEARS: ...sterling analysis.

Jamie whipped Alex into the opposing turnbuckle and went to follow it up with another running dropkick but The New Dawn shot out of the corner like a bullet and turned Jamie inside out with a lariat! Not one to waste a moment, Alex hit Jamie with a running senton and then covered for the first time in this contest.

2..!

Lana cheered as Jamie was able to kick out. Alex quickly gathered Jamie back up and took her down with an STO which she expertly transitioned into a Fujiwara armbar! Jamie groaned in agony as Alex wrenched back on the hold with all of her might.

MEARS: Alex Andrews is a technically sound competitor! Jamie Emmerson could be in serious hot water right now Bad Mood.

PETRIE: I guess.

Knowing that the referee was keenly aware of what she was doing, Lana opted not to get involved in the match. At least, not directly. Lana continued hurling insults at Kallie, trying to instigate a fight. The referee warned Kallie to stay put and in that moment Lana spit into the ring, hitting Alex right in the face!

Kallie’s eyes went wide and that was it, she charged around the ring and took Lana down with a Lou Thesz press! This drew the attention of the referee and Alex both. Alex broke the hold and went to help Kallie but stopped. She knew that this was DoD’s plan. Jamie looked to catch Alex from behind with a dropkick but Alex rolled forward and evaded it.

MEARS: Alex knew what DoD was up to and she did not fall for it.

PETRIE: Guess not.

MEARS: Something wrong Bad Mood? Aside from the usual things.

PETRIE: You fuckin’ scolded me on live television!

MEARS: I apologize.

PETRIE: Apology not accepted.

As the referee slipped out of the ring to try to separate Kallie and Lana, Jamie rushed Alex again but got caught with Elysium (Running Bicycle Kick)! Jamie was floored and The Citadel was cheering for The New Dawn. Alex fell into a cover but the referee was still on the outside.

Finally getting a hold of herself, Kallie got off of Lana and backed away. The referee was forced to eject Kallie due to her starting the fight but she argued. This small opening is all Lana needed. She quickly slipped into the ring and blasted Alex with Hecate’s Dagger (Shotei Palm Strike)!

MEARS: Come on referee! You had to see that coming.

PETRIE: Well he fuckin’ didn’t. Get over it!

Lana exited the ring as quickly as she entered. The referee didn’t see the interference but Kallie sure did! Kallie broke away from the referee and went after Lana but Lana took off up the ramp. The referee gave up trying to separate them and got back into the ring. Jamie measured Alex and hit her with Thessalian Crescent (Diving Corkscrew Cutter) before covering.

..3!

Winner: Jamie Emmerson

"Santana Medley" by Type O Negative kicked up and Jamie remained in the ring just long enough to get her hand raised. When she noticed Lana in peril, Jamie shot out of the ring and charged up the ramp. Kallie was just about to reach Lana when Jamie cracked her with a superkick to the back of the head.

MEARS: This is a farce. All of it. Alex Andrews did not deserve to lose that match.

PETRIE: She deserved to lose after sending Captain Incel after DoD last week.

MEARS: You know that is not what happened.

PETRIE: I don’t know what I know!

Alex was recovering in the ring. She looked up to the top of the ramp just in time to see Lana lift Kallie up with a spinebuster and for Jamie to hit a leaping leg lariat, completing the Balefire combination that dropped Kallie hard onto the ramp.

MEARS: This is disgusting. Lana Corvin has learned all of the tricks from her parents and we are seeing that on full display here tonight. It’s shameful.

PETRIE: Yeah but who fuckin’ won? Jamie did. Wins are all that matters. Who cares how ya get there?

MEARS: But this? Attacking Kallie on the ramp?

PETRIE: All part of the game.

The Daughters of Darkness embraced at the top of the ramp, laughing together like high school bullies who just swirlied a freshman. Alex started to get to her feet as the scene faded.

In the backstage area, James Edwards was walking back to his locker room after making an appearance to help Johnny Draco earlier in the evening. The Tabula Rasa Championship rested on his shoulder as he made his way through the halls of The Citadel.

The Burning Heart rounded a corner and then stopped dead in his tracks. His eyes didn’t show fear, they narrowed and honed in on the figure that surprised him. The shot pulled back to show that the person standing in his way was The Outlaw herself, Josie Wales.

EDWARDS: I was wondering when I would run into you.

WALES: You’ve run into me because I wanted you to. I been lookin’ for you.

EDWARDS: And here I am. Say what you need to say or do what you need to do.

Wales dipped her head, as if her next action was somewhat difficult for her.

WALES: I wanted to tell ya that you aren’t in my sights. Far as I’m concerned, we don’t have a problem. I came out at the end of yer match with Leah Aguero at Violent Ends because I wanted to get at Leah. Then you decided to get in my way so I did what I had to do.

Edwards cocked an eyebrow, perhaps experiencing a flashback to that very night where Wales dropped him with her High Noon Driver.

EDWARDS: You might not have a problem. But maybe I do.

WALES: If that’s the case then we’ll settle in -- down the road. Right now I’ve got other things to deal with. Looks like you do too. So if you’re still raw about what I did after we deal with our respective issues then I’d be happy to get in there with you to sort it all out.

The Outlaw tipped her hat on Edwards and then walked past him. She paused briefly to look at the title over his shoulder and then carried on down the hall leaving Edwards to think about what just transpired.

“Oh La La” by Run the Jewels played as Stephanie “Cloud” Matsuda was seen walking to the ring inside The Citadel. She received a positive reaction from the crowd, mostly from people who might sympathize with the former Tag Team Champion’s plight. Stephanie was already dressed in her ring gear as she took a mic and climbed into the ring. She took a stroll around the ring as she scans the crowd, wondering what she was going to say in reference to her situation.

MATSUDA: You all miss me, don’t ya?

The crowd responded in a way that one would assume that they did miss their favorite member of The Inevitable.

MATSUDA: A little over a year ago I signed with OATH. Back then it was a new product, trying to make a name for itself. In order to put itself on the map, the brand knew that it needed names. So it called upon a James Edwards, a Reo Ojima, and a Samantha Hamilton. We have names known across the nation like Lil Miss FM Young, Johnny Draco, and of course my lovely cousin, Leah Aguero. Ironically, I didn’t know she was my cousin when I got here. Nor did I know her sis Q is the same Q signed to MY Joshi Extreme Takeover promotion. Life has a funny way of reuniting you with your family. To explain how we’re connected will take all day so I’ll get straight to the point. Leah and I always had a chip on our shoulder - her more than me. We were hungry to prove ourselves, eager to prove to the powers that be that signing us was money well spent. But, there’s a difference between Leah and me, something that I didn’t see until recently. I’m driven by glory, while Leah is driven by absolute bloodlust. Now I like violence just as much as the next well-adjusted combat athlete, but Leah? There’s something else in you, girl. I’ve always felt it bubbling at the surface. And now, I have to sit back and watch the devil take you in his grasp.

Stephanie looked straight into the camera.

MATSUDA: Because we all know that Reo Ojima is the devil incarnate. In the past, I gave respect to him and I earned it in our one and only singles match, but that doesn’t mean I don’t see what’s going on. Reo’s been recruiting because he’s scared. He knows his time is up so he’s recruiting those he knows can take that belt off of him. I’m sure if I was as weak-minded as Young and my cousin he would try to serenade me, too. But, a bitch knows when she’s being tested. And in this situation, I know that my dear cousin, whose potential is vast now has a glass ceiling hanging above her head. She became a creature of chaos and now will forever be Ojima’s number three - not even number two because that distinction is reserved for my opponent tonight, FM Young.

Matsuda walked around the ring a little more to gather her thoughts.

MATSUDA: Young thinks I’m like all the rest. She thinks I’m just another brick in the wall, but she’ll be a fool to underestimate a War Queen whose back is against the wall. I’ll do anything for my family, and if tearing down ONI is the way I can make Leah see the light, then so be it. I don’t claim to be a hero. I’ve done a lot of things in my career that would suggest otherwise, which is why I know full well what happens to those that get pulled into the void. You get stuck, consumed by your own insecurities, and those insecurities turn into doubt and from doubt to outright anger. People are at their most vulnerable when they’re desperate, and right now Leah is at the edge.

Stephanie sighed and shook her head.

MATSUDA: Young, I respected you. In fact, there’s still a part of me that does. But tonight any feeling of goodness that I have in my heart for you goes out the window. When we step into the ring, you’ll see the predator that I was telling you about. And when I take your belt from you, consider us even after that sneak attack from last week. Leah? If you’re listening, I want you to watch closely as I show you how to dominate an opponent. And Reo? We’ll be seeing each other again. Sooner than you think.

Stephanie nodded a couple of times before saying her famous catchphrase.

MATSUDA: Know it. Understand it. Believe it.

“Oh La La” played as Stephanie left the ring with eyes full of determination.

TAG TEAM MATCH Alex Pierce & Locke Helms vs. Jenna Sharpe & Switchblxde

The next contest saw the uneasy alliance of Alex Pierce and Locke Helms take on the cousin tag team of Jenna Sharpe and Switchblxde. Conspicuous by his absence was the Sharpe’s manager Bert Cocaine. Astaroth and Adrestia Nyx accompanied Helms to the ring. The Sharpes were outnumbered and even Pierce looked concerned about the presence of The Hell Realm.

PETRIE: Did anyone find Monstruo? Is he still somewhere in Lake Ontario?

MEARS: As far as I know he has disappeared.

PETRIE: Is he fucking dead? Did they kill him?

MEARS: No one knows.

PETRIE: Wrestling is wild.

The Fire Fist Ace Alex Pierce started the contest against Jenna Sharpe. These two had been in the ring together before so there was a bit of posturing to start the match. Jenna kept trying to pick Pierce’s leg but he was ready for it. Jenna tried that one time too many and Pierce blasted her with a Backfist To The Future (Spinning Backfist).

Pierce hauled Jenna up and went for a t-bone suplex but she slipped out of it and was finally able to pick his leg, putting him on the mat. Jenna went for a calf crusher but her much heavier opponent was able to kick her off toward the ropes where Helms blasted her in the face with a forearm smash.

MEARS: How long do you think Locke and Alex will be able to coexist?

PETRIE: I dunno, Pierce was pretty pissed about what happened last week. I think he really wants the win tonight.

Jenna staggered back from the ropes right into Pierce’s awaiting arms. The Fire Fist Ace lifted her up with a reverse waist lock and she came crashing down to the mat via a German suplex. Jenna landed with such a thud that she rolled completely backward into her own corner where Switchblxde was able to make the blind tag.

The former Tag Team Champion vaulted over the top rope and took Pierce down with a wild Lou Thesz press. Switch hit Pierce with a barrage of strikes so chaotic that it could be compared to a wild animal mauling potential prey. Switch then charged toward Locke and knocked him off of the apron.

MEARS: Switchblxde is a wild man. A former Tag Team Champion. This match is right in his wheelhouse.

PETRIE: I thought he was homeless…

MEARS: I do not believe that is true.

Pierce tried to rally back but Switch rushed him and put him down with a tornado DDT. Switch tagged Jenna back in and then flew threw the ropes with a suicide dive to take Locke down on the outside. Pierce started to stand but Jenna hit him with a basement dropkick to the knee!

As Switch and Locke brawled on the outside, Jenna positioned Pierce and applied a calf crusher! Unfortunately for Jenna, Pierce was far too strong and he quickly crawled on his hands to reach the bottom rope. The referee forced the rope break.

MEARS: Jenna needs to find a different strategy.

PETRIE: Yeah like run away.

Locke had put Switch down with a capture suplex on the outside and was now up on the apron. Pierce reluctantly tagged him in. Locke rushed Jenna but she was quicker, catching him with a basement dropkick to the left knee. Kneeling, Locke found himself on the receiving end of a shining wizard from The Canadian Wildcat. Jenna covered.

The Chairman of Chaos was just able to kick out and Jenna tagged Switch back in. The Sharpes blasted Locke with a double dropkick. Locke was having a tough time getting up, taking a moment to compose himself while up to a knee. This gave Switch the opportunity he needed and he blasted Helms with Concussion (Running Knee to the Back of the Head)!

PETRIE: No! Locke! Watch out man!

MEARS: Switchblxde is gearing up to finish off a former two time Intrepid Champion!

PETRIE: Thank you for recognizing Locke’s incredible accomplishments.

MEARS: Facts are facts.

Switch called out to his countrymen in the crowd and measured Helms for The Nosejob (Double Knee Facebreaker) but Helms was able to cut him off with a bicycle kick! Switch was staggering on his feet when Helms took him over with Diamond Rain (Standing Moonsault Slam). Helms seemed to consider going for a pin but instead he tagged in Pierce -- much to the latter’s surprise.

Jenna reached out for the tag and Switch got close but Helms had snuck around to the Sharpes’ side of the ring and pulled Jenna off of the apron. Helms then dropped her with Downfall (Hammerlock DDT) on the floor. Pierce gathered Switch up and floored him with Chaosbringer (Shouten)! Switch got clobbered and Pierce covered.

Winners: Alex Pierce & Locke Helms

"Let 'Em Come" by Scroobius Pip, Sage Francis, & P.O.S cued up. Pierce and Helms were announced as the winners. Pierce got his arm raised as Nyx and Astaroth entered the ring, dragging Jenna along with them. Pierce clearly wanted no part of this, so he left.

Helms, Nyx, and Astaroth stood over the fallen Sharpes and Helms collected a microphone.

HELMS: You must have felt very accomplished last week, no? You had Bert and Kasey attack Monstruo thinking that without our monster The Hell Realm would be vulnerable. Yes?

Astaroth and Nyx were both kneeling on the backs of Jenna and Switch respectively, forcing them to listen to every word that Locke had to say.

HELMS: That was a miscalculation. Monstruo should have never found himself in such a predicament and because he allowed himself to be attacked in such a way we were forced to send him away for some...reeducation. But we are not vulnerable, we never are. But you Sharpes? You very much are.

Helms gave a nod to his cohorts. Nyx and Astaroth forced both Jenna and Switch to look up at the tron and there was an image of Ryan Terror -- covered in blood.

MEARS: What in the world…

The shot pulled out to show that Terror was wielding a metal pipe. At his feet were both Bert Cocaine and Kasey Kash -- beaten to a bloody pulp. Terror looked like a man possessed, a crazed look in his eyes.

HELMS: It would be in your best interest to cease antagonizing us. Take the losses that you received at Violent Ends as well as here tonight and learn from them. You do not possess the propensity of violence necessary to put us down. So please, for your own sake, stop trying.

With that The Hell Realm exited the ring, leaving Jenna and Switch to not only stew in a loss but concern for both Bert and Kasey.

The scene cuts to previously recorded video. Inside a Hot Pot Restaurant, Reo Ojima, FM Young, and Leah sit at a table that’s covered in food and alcohol. In the middle of the table is the steaming hot broth that you put all the uncooked food in. Reo Ojima is the only one talking and having a good time as Young and Leah aren’t in the best of moods as they avoid eye contact with one another. Reo gives out a chuckle and downs a beer and notices the tension in the air. Slamming the glass on the table, the two girls are shocked a little as Reo leans back in his chair and looks at the two.

OJIMA: I invite you girls to some good Hot Pot, best fucking thing the Chinese have invented, I got bottles of alcohol and music playing in the background and I’m the only one talking and having a good time.

Placing his hands together, Reo leans forward a little as he lowers his voice and addresses the two.

OJIMA: I brought both of you into ONI because I need the help. I’m not as young as I once was so I need some “assistance” when I can when it comes to what happens in and out of that ring. Someone to watch my back in case someone from the roster wants a piece of me. Plus, I’m a miserable old bastard and I like having drinking buddies to help pass the time and have a few good laughs with.

Grabbing the pitcher of beer, Reo pours himself a drink and tops off Young’s and Leah’s glasses as well.

OJIMA: Now if you want to be like everyone else on the OATH roster and be just having an ok career with short title reigns here and there then you can go back to that old life and leave right now. The doors right over there. Kick rocks if you want, I ain’t going to cry if you leave. There’s plenty of people that would love to learn by my side. Or you can suck it up, get along, and trust one another in battle. Because I don’t go into battles with people I don’t trust.

Taking his chopsticks, Reo pulls out some beef and noodles and mixes them in bowl before eating them.

OJIMA: Now are you two going to be cool? Or do you guys want to get it out of your systems and just fight one another? Either way I’m going to drink and eat and have a good time.

FM shifts in her seat, pulling her drink closer she leans back taking on a more relaxed posture though it’s clearly forced. Instead she plasters on a smile, taking a hefty pull from her glass of beer, with a shrug at Reo.

FM: I feel like we’re not in competition with each other, hell you and I have the best records in OATH. My fight with Matsuda aside, I suppose I have been a bit harsh on Leah. He’s right, we should both loosen up a little bit. Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die, right? I’m personally all for that, I came to Reo to learn. Same as you Leah, we aren’t enemies here.

LEAH: I’m not gonna lie. I don’t trust you, Young. I don't know what your true intentions are for joining ONI. You see, ONI isn't a fad. You aren't joining just because we’re the IT group. You join ONI because it’s a lifestyle. I’m not sure if you get that, Young. I’m just saying.

With that, Leah didn't have another statement. She simply looked at FM Young as she took a drink.

FM: I get it, I’m notoriously not part of groups. Give me the benefit of the doubt for the moment, yeah? I’m sure if I was up to no good, you could handle it. I’m just here to learn and make sure Reo gets the respect he deserves. You can relax Leah, I’m not in the habit of stabbing people in the back either. We’ve both got matches at the next show, so let’s both just focus on that.

Young nodded, offering to pour Leah more of her drink, after doing so Young continues eating after glancing at Reo. The team seemed all together, uneasily, if for the moment.

Janica Jayden, without Viola Mancini by her side, is backstage sporting acid wash jeans and a closed leather jacket ready to speak on behalf of her employer.

JANICA: Oh, you were expecting Viola? No, she's far too busy, and as per usual, I'm stuck with her dirty work that she feels is beneath her.

She said, rolling her eyes a bit, and not thrilled to be shoved in front of a camera.

JANICA: So, let me ask Minoru and Super Tiger a question... Do you know the definition of insanity?

She said, before cracking her knuckles, trying to look intimidating for the camera.

JANICA: Insanity is doing the exact same thing, and expecting a different result. Much like my situation.

She said, going off the message Viola was originally going to have her say.

JANICA: Viola wanted me to go on this spiel about how you both are crazy for trying to fight us both again after your loss. She has a point, but, now here's my problem. You two have the nerve to say "the lackey" or "Viola's bitch" time and time again. But, I'm not some spring chicken! I've fought the independent scene for years along with my time in the LFL. I am NOT going to stand for you two disrespecting me over and over again.

She said, getting a bit intense, but, calming down as she spoke.

JANICA: But, it don't matter. It doesn't matter how many times I bruise you, beat you, break your bones... the perception is always just some random underling. You don't understand we are Tag! Team! Champions! and that should have us both on equal footing. So you two, go ahead... talk about Viola. Sing and dance her praises or condemn her for her sins... but, tonight, I'm going to remind you who I am!"

She said, before turning away, a massive chip on her shoulder as she does so. The scene would fade to black, with her ready to fight.

OATH INTREPID CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES MATCH Stephanie Matsuda vs. FM Young ©

Our first title match of the evening was up next and it was kind of a rematch from the Event Horizon Series 2020 Finals. Stephanie “Cloud” Matsuda made her way to the ring to a decent reaction but the mood changed drastically when the Intrepid Champion’s music hit.

MEARS: This is certainly a surprise.

PETRIE: It shouldn’t be. ONI is eternal.

The sounds of “Helix” by Amaranthe continued to play throughout the arena as “The Tiger” walked out onto the stage wearing her own unique ONI mask. Flanking her on the left was Matsuda’s cousin “The War Queen” Leah Aguero. The crowd showered them both with boos and yet they did not seem to care.

The ONI members reached the bottom of the ramp and Young entered the ring. She removed her mask and handed the championship to the referee. Matsuda had not taken her eyes off of her cousin for the entirety of Young’s entrance. The bell sounded and Young took the opportunity to catch Matsuda off guard with a running shoulder block.

Matsuda was sent hard into a corner and there Young lay into her with a variety of body shots. Matsuda did her best to cover up but Young was the superior striker. As the fans continued to show their dislike for Young, the champion launched Matsuda out of the corner with a beale toss.

MEARS: I have said it before but it can always stand to be repeated -- FM is freakishly strong.

PETRIE: That’s why she has been such a dominant champion and why she will continue to be.

MEARS: Do not count out Stephanie Matsuda. She knows how to win gold. She is a former Tag Team and Tabula Rasa Champion.

Cloud hit the mat with a thud and Aguero just watched from ringside, stone faced. Young stalked Matsuda slowly, pacing over to her as if each step was meticulously calculated. Matsuda recovered and launched a kick toward Young but Young caught it. Matsuda tried to recover with an enziguiri but Young evaded it. The champion pulled Matsuda back into a reverse waist lock and then took her overhead with a German suplex.

Young dropped to a knee after the throw and just stared into the crowd. The people that only a few weeks ago supported her were now calling for her downfall. Young was so preoccupied with the response from the crowd that she didn’t seem to notice that Matsuda had done a full backflip and landed on her feet.

MEARS: FM didn’t notice! Matsuda is standing tall!

The champion turned around to face the challenger and was surprised with a shotgun dropkick. Young clearly didn’t see it coming and her deliberate pace was now sped up considerably. Young tried to regain the upper hand but Aguero met her with a quick arm drag.

Young slid on the mat and got back up but Matsuda caught her with a snapmare which put Young in a seated position and left her vulnerable for a flipping neckbreaker. Young’s head and neck snapped back and she was on her back for the first time in this contest. Matsuda covered.

The Tiger powered out and launched Matsuda a foot into the air but Matsuda was ready for it. She hit the ropes and blasted Young with a sliding dropkick to the face. Young rallied back and got to her feet but Matsuda caught her with a high roundhouse kick to the side of the head and then took her over with a snap suplex!

MEARS: Stephanie is cooking! The Intrepid Championship is within her grasp.

PETRIE: No it isn’t! ONI are the champions of OATH and they will continue to be.

MEARS: Who better to take one of their titles and put a hole in their armor?

PETRIE: No one. No one can.

Cloud had the bulk of The Citadel behind her as she ascended to the top rope. Without a moment's hesitation Matsuda came off of the top rope with a moonsault that landed perfectly across Young’s sternum. Matsuda covered again.

Yet again Young powered out but she was beginning to look mighty frustrated. Matsuda measured the champion and then charged at her looking for the Last Surprise (Slingblade) but Young was faster in this instance and she blasted Matsuda with a vile lariat that turned the challenger inside out. Young quickly brought Matsuda up to her feet and then drilled her with the Man-Machine Interface (Discus Clothesline)! Matsuda did a full backflip and landed face down on the mat.

PETRIE: Thanks for comin’ Steph!

MEARS: This contest is far from over. Stephanie is known to reach down deep and pull off big victories. Do not make the mistake of counting her out. Not in a match like this.

A slight glance to Aguero at ringside and then Young hoisted Matsuda up to her feet. Young was about finished with this contest, illustrated by the fact that she set Matsuda up for Human Error Processor (Assault Driver) but at the last second Matsuda took her down to the mat with an Oklahoma roll.

The crowd thought that was it but Young kicked out at the very last moment. Both competitors were back up but Matsuda was lightning quick and she put Young down with the Last Surprise (Slingblade)! Matsuda then quickly ran up the ropes to perch herself in the corner. Young saw something big coming and decided to take the only action that she could think of.

MEARS: Oh come on this is ridiculous!

PETRIE: This is resourcefulness! Fuckin’ nice one Tiger!

The champion grabbed the referee by the shirt to distract him and Aguero leaped up onto the apron. Matsuda saw Aguero coming but not in time, Aguero shoved Matsuda off of the top rope and she ate canvas. Young got back up to her feet and this time she opted to hit Matsuda with the Heart of the Phoenix (Lumbar Check)! The crowd booed heavily as Young covered the challenger.

Winner: Still OATH Intrepid Champion, FM Young

“Helix” by Amaranthe cued up and The Citadel was none too pleased. Young showed no emotion as the referee handed her the Intrepid Championship. No celebration. Nothing. Aguero just waited on the outside, clearly not feeling anything about what she had just done to her cousin.

MEARS: We are seeing ONI at full power right now. Reo has indoctrinated these two and they only care about ONI. No one else.

PETRIE: That’s the way it fuckin’ should be. OATH is ONI. It’s been that way for months. Reo got rid of the other two plugs and has signed some heavy hitters.

Matsuda slowly started to stir and Young just stood over her. The champion threw the title over her shoulder and just stood over her fallen opponent, staring at her. Matsuda got up to a knee and looked up at Young. The fact that she was kneeling before Young clearly wasn’t lost to Matsuda and she used her remaining strength to stand.

Champion and challenger stood face to face, neither blinking. The tension was broken when Matsuda turned and dove through the ropes with a suicide dive onto Aguero! The Citadel exploded as the cousins had finally come to blows.

MEARS: Stephanie has finally had enough!

PETRIE: Leah did nothing wrong!

The cousins rolled around on the outside, throwing hands back and forth. Young stood in the ring, simply watching. This was not her fight, this was a family squabble. Young still couldn’t help but watch. Thing is, she should have been watching her six because someone had slipped into the ring behind her.

MEARS: Look who has just shown up.

PETRIE: Oh get lost Lone Ranger.

A second before disaster you could see that Young knew something was up but she had no time to react. “The Outlaw” Josie Wales spun Young around and before she knew it she had been planted with the High Noon Driver (Barry White Driver)! The Intrepid Championship fell to the mat beside the champion.

As the team formerly known as The Inevitable continued to brawl on the floor, Wales reached down and took hold of the Intrepid Championship. Wales stared into the faceplate from beneath her black Stetson hat -- her next goal was clear.

We went deep within the bowels of The Citadel, or wait no no, it was just a simple conference room where Minoru Tanahashi, clad in khaki slacks, a simple white dress shirt, khaki vest and a brown newsboy style hat. He sat in a director’s style chair shaking his head. There was a bit of a banging at the door and Minoru looked over, but shrugged it off. A few seconds later, the door was opened and Volta came waddling through holding a little bag of popcorn. Super Tiger followed him through, pretzel in one hand, large drink in the other.

SUPER TIGER: You found him again, good job.

Super Tiger headed over to her tag team partner with a somewhat annoyed look, but it was a little difficult to tell because of the mask.

SUPER TIGER: Us having to find you better not become a weekly thing.

Minoru sighed, turned to Tiger and nodded.

MINORU: I know I know. I expected to be done with this a long time ago, but all of these auditions have been terrible.

SUPER TIGER: Auditions? Minoru, you know Cindy will kill you if you actually direct a porno, right?

Minoru laughed and looked over at Tiger who had cracked a smile.

MINORU: Nothing like that. If I was doing that I would already have the cast, me, her, and… yea that’s it.

Minoru caught himself and gave a bit of a nervous grin as he remembered the camera is right there behind him.

MINORU: I am actually auditioning my stunt double.

SUPER TIGER: Your stunt double?

MINORU: Yep, I figured if those bitches could use a fake you, maybe I could trick them with a fake me, but so far everyone has been absolutely awful. Look at the headshot for this next guy. Ray Thomas? I specifically said Asian, between the ages of twenty five and thirty five, athletic, charismatic, devilishly handsome. This guy looks whiter than casper, and since when do I have a moustache?

Tiger looked at the picture and laughed for a bit, then sat it back down and shook her head.

SUPER TIGER: I don’t think the fake you thing is going to work.

MINORU: But they were able to trick me into thinking they were about to attack you, If they could have a fake you why couldn’t we have… wait, it’s because of the mask. Plus it’s way easier to find small cute Asian girls up here than it is to find any guy that could look half as good as me. Well damn it, now we need a new plan?

SUPER TIGER: I think I have an idea. It’s a little bit out there, but just listen and reserve judgement until I’m finished. How about we go get our gear on, walk out to the ring, kick their butts for a while, hit the Thunder Liger Plex and become tag team champions?

Minoru dropped the headshot he was still holding for some reason, brought a hand up to his chin, stroked his beard a few times and began to nod.

MINORU: I love it. Absolutely brilliant plan. See this is why you’re the brains of the operation and I’m the pretty face.

Volta looked up at Minoru and gave a loud honk.

MINORU: Sorry, sorry. One of the pretty faces.

Volta gave a satisfied honk and dug into his popcorn.

SUPER TIGER: Right. Now can we forget about all this and get ready for the match.

MINORU: Yes, sorry I wasted so much time.

Minoru stood up and the trio began to head out, but Minoru stopped himself and turned around.

MINORU: AUDITIONS ARE OVER, YOU CAN ALL GO HOME.

Several annoyed groans were heard from behind a small screen as The SUPER KAWAII THUNDER LIGER SQUADRON made their exit.

The lights in The Citadel went completely out, plunging the arena into darkness. There was a bit of commotion and scrambling, but through the noise a sound almost like knocking could be heard. It got a bit louder, sounding like someone tapping on glass. Then the screen flickered to life and we saw a couple of knuckles tapping on a camera lens. As the knuckles moved, a cracked white leather mask came into view. The camera slowly moved back to reveal Matt Shields sitting not on a throne, but on a simple black folding chair. He sat there in a pair of patched up jeans, a black sleeveless Cthulhu shirt and just started tapping his kendo stick on the ground. He slowly raised the mask up, sighed and shook his head in disgust.

SHIELDS: Right now, I should be sitting here with Blanche in my arms. She should be wrapped around my waist and we should be laying out the next challenge.

Shields stopped tapping the kendo stick and leaned forward.

SHIELDS: Instead… she remains wrapped around the waist of a slovenly cowardly asshole. Ojima, you listen real fucking closely boy. You did not beat me. You escaped by the skin of your damn teeth thanks to a lackey and a turncoat. Because of those two, because of you, Blanche won’t even speak to me. The last words she said to me, they still ring in my ear, they haunt me when I try to sleep, they torment me when I wake. She told me that I disappointed her.

Shields stopped again, ran his fingers through his hair and then started laughing a bit.

SHIELDS: I disappointed her? I DISAPPOINTED HER! She’s freaking left me, she’s gone, her voice no longer soothes me. So what do I do? Demand another match with Ojima? Will one simple action be enough to right the wrongs? No. I have so much more to do before I get back to you Ojima. The lackey, the turncoat, they will find out in due time that they committed the most grievous of sins. Before them though, there’s someone who thinks they can just up and leave this place and not let me give them a proper send off? No no no Holland, if anyone is gonna put you out to pasture, it’s gonna be me. See Blanche absolutely adored the violence we inflicted upon each other before, so I’m going to give her more. We’re gonna up the stakes this time around Holland. I’m thinking about barbed wire and lots of it, but hey it’s your retirement, so I’ll leave it to you. Just promise that you will not disappoint me.

Shields sat back in the chair and slightly smirked as he started tapping the kendo stick on the ground again.

SHIELDS: I want maximum brutality and carnage. I want the lackey, the turncoat, the bastard, and every other damn person in this company that crosses me, to know exactly what they are in store for. I want your blood, I want your souls, and I want them all right fucking now.

Shields stood, raised the kendo stick and smashed it into the camera, shattering the glass and plunging the arena back into darkness for a few seconds before "Faith" by Ghost began playing and the lights slowly rose back up. Everyone started looking around for Shields, but the music slowly faded out as a flood of red balloons came rising up from under all four sides of the ring.

OATH TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TAG TEAM MATCH Super Kawaii Thunder Liger Squadron vs. Mancini Syndicate ©

Main event time in a rematch from Violent Ends as Super Kawaii Thunder Liger Squadron looked to make up for their first Tag Team Title opportunity as they faced off against the villainous Mancini Syndicate. The challengers made their over-the-top entrance as they are want to do with their mascot/member Volta the Capybara leading the charge.

PETRIE: I wonder what that rat tastes like.

MEARS: I would imagine that it would not be good.

PETRIE: Still...

Upon reaching the bottom of the ramp, Volta immediately went under the ring apron and started sniffing around -- clearly looking for imposters. The champions were out next and this time Viola Mancini allowed Janica Jayden to carry her own championship belt to the ring. The duo started laughing when they saw Volta searching under the ring and that earned them an angry honk from the capybara.

Both teams were in the ring and after the Syndicate handed over their Tag Team Titles, the referee called for the bell. Without hesitation Minoru Tanahashi dashed across the ring and blasted Viola with a running uppercut. Super Tiger got in on the action, she rushed Janica and smoked her with a spinning heel kick that sent her over the top rope to the outside.

PETRIE: Come on ref! Fuckin’ blatant disregard fer the rules!

MEARS: Perhaps you are just upset that it wasn’t The Syndicate who did it.

PETRIE: They are law abiding citizens both in and out of the ring.

Super Tiger exited the ring and got on the apron, choosing not to toss Janica around the ringside area (even though it would be justified). In the ring, The Godmother was completely caught off guard as Minoru tattooed her with a quick succession of knife edged chops and then took her over with a snap suplex.

Tanahashi made the quick tag to Super Tiger and the duo hit a snap double suplex to take her down. Minoru shouted “Megasandāroketto!” and Tiger knew exactly what to do. Minoru bundled Viola up in Keimusho Saifu (Paradise Lock) and then together SKTLS hit Viola with stereo shotgun dropkicks to her posterior.

PETRIE: I hate everything about what they choose to be.

Janica was up on the apron and if you didn’t know better you might think that she was trying to hide a smile after seeing what had happened to Viola. Nevertheless Janica reached out looking for the tag. Tiger got Viola up, sent her into the ropes with an Irish whip and then on Viola’s return, Tiger took her over with a hip toss and then hit a low dropkick to the back of La Capa’s head. Tiger quickly covered.

Viola was able to kick out and Super Tiger went to apply a chin lock in the hopes of keeping Viola down but that dastardly Godmother poked her right in the eye. Viola then used what little energy that she could muster to roll forward and tag in Janica.

PETRIE: It appears that Super Tiger is having trouble seeing.

MEARS: I wonder why that is.

PETRIE: Too much time staring at a phone would be my guess.

The referee clearly didn’t see what had happened and looked somewhat confused as Super Tiger rolled around on the mat grasping at her eye. Janica entered the ring like a house of fire, darted across the ring and blasted Minoru off of the apron with a running headbutt! Tiger got to her feet and stumbled right into a massive uranage from Janica.

No stranger to the ways of a tag team match, Super Tiger was able to roll toward her corner and make the tag to Minoru. Minoru entered the ring and quickly went for Akihabara Dreams (Yakuza Kick) but Janica dropped to one knee and his leg went over her shoulder. In one fluid motion, Janica used Minoru’s own momentum against him and took him over with an impressive capture suplex.

MEARS: That was very impressive. Minoru weighs considerably more than Janica.

PETRIE: Please don’t comment on peoples’ bodies Mears! You’ll get cancelled.

MEARS: Between the two of us I do not think that I am the one who runs the risk of that.

PETRIE: You never fuckin’ know bud.

Even with the added momentum, that took a great deal out of Janica. She needed to make a tag and so he did. As quick as they could, The Syndicate hit Minoru with a double dropkick and then whipped him into their corner. Janica charged in with a Yakuza kick and Viola followed that up with a running clothesline. Janica exited the ring and Viola brought Minoru out of the corner with a bulldog before making the cover.

The Black Lion was able to kick out shortly after the two count but Viola kept him grounded with a two handed choke! The referee applied a five count and Viola released Minoru at a count of four. The referee scolded her and Viola responded by staring into the zebra’s eyes while choking Minoru once more! She released at the four count again and then head faked the ref.

MEARS: Viola Mancini just does whatever she wants to do.

PETRIE: That’s why she’s a winner! A champion!

Minoru was gasping for breath as he crawled toward his corner where Super Tiger had her hand ready for the tag. Viola let him get close and just as he was about to tag out, she cracked him with a windmill kick to the back of the head. Viola rolled him over while staring at Super Tiger. The referee started counting and Viola made a kissy face at Tiger.

Minoru kicked out and Viola didn’t seem bothered. Janica called for a tag and Viola flashed her a glare that would make most people shit themselves. Viola set Minoru up for Lupara Bianca (Flatliner) but Minoru caught her with some elbows to the side of the head and then planted her with Kabukicho Nights (Discus Lariat). Viola was sent rolling backward into her own corner.

MEARS: Both teams have made a tag! What is going to happen next? Another imposter?

PETRIE: What are you talkin’ about? Imposter? You think this is Among Us?

MEARS: I do not know what that is.

PETRIE: Sus.

It took some time but Minoru ultimately made the tag. But so did Viola. Janica entered the ring and rushed Minoru, looking for a big boot. But Minoru paid her back for earlier by lifting her up for a powerbomb just as Super Tiger came off the top rope with a meteora shouting “Squadron Maneuver Number Seven!”! Janica came down in a heap.

Viola went to get involved but Minoru sidestepped her and sent her sailing over the top rope to the floor. Super Tiger quickly got Janica up and positioned her for a Tiger suplex. Minoru hit the ropes and came back with an Akihabara Dreams as Tiger took Janica over with the tiger suplex into a bridge! Minoru flew through the ropes with a tope suicide to take Viola down as the referee made the count.

“Legends Never Die” cued up and Super Tiger jumped off the mat with joy. Minoru collected Volta and placed him in the ring as the referee collected the Tag Team Titles. Once handed their new championships, SKTLS raised the titles high in the air. The Citadel roared in approval and started throwing dozens of multicolored streamers into the ring. Janica rolled out of the ring to regroup with Viola but Viola was already making her way up the ramp.
