OATH Pro Wrestling Presents Event Horizon: Night Four Sacramento, California, United States of America July 19th 2019
— Insurance
Following the OATH signature, we cut to the arena in Sacramento. Agustin Gates made yet another grand entrance and came to the ring. Despite suffering his first loss at night three, Gates seemed happy. Gates got on the mic and said that he was not deterred by his loss, that a monarchy has to be respected and triumphing over adversity will help cultivate that respect.
Gates went on to say that a monarchy has a leader, but it is not just one man. Gates said that given his high profile he has decided that it was time to introduce OATH to others much like him. Out came Steven Maximum and Elijah Dynamite, two more members of Gates’ Heavenly 4. Gates said that should Finn Whelan be looking for some sort of retaliation, that would be a poor choice. — Erik Holland (0-3-0) vs. Salvador Blanco (1-2-0)
The first match of round four saw the winless Erik Holland take on Salvador Blanco. Unlike his previous matches, Blanco did not try to shake Holland’s hand because — well Blanco knows better.
Holland did not rush Blanco as Matt Mears had predicted. The two competitors circled each other and following a lock up, Holland took Blanco over with a headlock. Blanco then hit a grounded head scissors to break Holland’s hold and once both were back up on their feet Holland cracked Blanco with a bicycle kick.
The Most Dangerous kept Blanco grounded, grinding his forearm into Blanco’s face. Blanco pushed Holland off and when Holland rushed him, Blanco put Holland throat first into the middle rope with a drop toe hold. Blanco rushed Holland and ran with a double front kick to the back of the head, Blanco went through the ropes but landed on his feet on the outside, giving Sacramento cause to cheer.
Blanco rushed back into the ring and covered but Holland kicked out at two. Following an Irish whip and a head scissors takeover, Blanco looked to serve Holland up a fourth defeat. Blanco set Holland up for Venganza Servida Fría (Standing Fireman’s Carry Spin out into a Code Breaker) but Holland landed on his feet for a millisecond and then spun Blanco out with Planet Terror (Black Hole Slam).
“That was one of the most amazing counters we’ve seen in this series thus far. Magnificent.” Ben Petrie said.
Holland, nearly frothing at the mouth, got Blanco up and put him back down with The Toxic Avenger (Death Valley Driver). Holland covered and got the three count.
Winner: Erik Holland (1-3-0)
Now you may have expected Holland to put a post match beat down on Blanco but Holland exited the ring quickly and marched up the ramp. His path to redemption had started and he could not risk having the decision reversed.
— Growing Tired
Backstage Veronica Taylor was shown walking through the halls of the arena when she was approached by intrepid OATH Interviewer Sonny Callighan. Callighan asked Taylor why she was in the arena when she was not booked. Taylor said that as the First Lady of OATH, it was her duty to ensure—
Well, she started to say all that at least when Nina Stokes walked into frame. Stokes said that Taylor is not the only woman on the scene and that soon enough they would all get their shot to play.
“Play?” a disembodied voice said.
Cue Samantha Hamilton walking into frame. Hamilton said that Stokes should look at the verb in that last sentence. Hamilton said that she was not here to play. Stokes agreed and said that if they could all agree on something it would be that they were all tired of sitting on the sidelines.
Taylor scoffed and said that it’s unlikely that she would agree on anything with either Stokes or Hamilton. Taylor predicted that when the women were scheduled to make their debut, Taylor would be the first to know.
— Agustin Gates (2-1-0) vs. Rob Sharpe (1-2-0)
The Majestic One came to the ring accompanied by his, well let’s call them what they are, bodyguards Elijah Dynamite and Steven Maximum. Great names.
“Were these guys porn stars at one point?” Mears asked.
Rob Sharpe was out next with a renewed sense of confidence after defeating his Badd Breed cohort Erik Holland on Night Three. Following the bell, Gates got in Sharpe’s face and demanded that Sharpe bow. Sharpe proceed to put Gates on his ass with an uppercut. Sharpe, having an over thirty pound weight advantage tossed Gates all around the ring and there was little that Gates could do to stop him.
At first.
Sharpe was feeling confident and went for his Dawkins Suplex (Hard Way German Suplex) but Gates hooked Sharpe’s leg, turned around and levelled Sharpe with his Dethroned (Discus Lariat). This sent Sharpe through the ropes to the outside where Dynamite and Maximum were waiting.
Gates complained to the referee about his collarbone, really hamming it up. On the outside Dynamite and Maximum put the boots to Sharpe before they rolled him back into the ring. OATH referees aren’t stupid and this particular one knew that something was awry. She warned the bodyguards and they acted incredulous.
That’s when Gates went to work with stomps, kicks and whatever he could muster to keep Sharpe down. And it worked…for a time. Sharpe was eventually able to rise up and down Gates with the Citywide Special (Clothesline into corner into a running bulldog). Sharpe than sent Gates went to send Gates into the ropes but Gates reversed it, Gates then grabbed the referee quickly and complained about his collarbone again.
“He’s hurt ref! Listen to him!” Petrie said.
As Sharpe rebounded off of the ropes but Dynamite and Maximum grabbed his legs. Sharpe turned to jawjack with them and that’s when Gates charged him and nailed The Majestic Knee (Busaiku Knee). Gates covered for three and got back to his winning ways.
Winner: Agustin Gates (3-1-0)
Gate’s music did not play, instead “Into The Fire” hit and the audience popped as “The Seattle Saint” FInn Whelan came out, microphone in hand. Whelan said that he would not seek revenge in Sacramento. Not because of “your goons” but because he is in the main event. Whelan said that he would not put his perfect record in danger over someone like Gates.
“I’m sure that suffering a blemish doesn’t feel great, huh Gates.” Whelan said.
As Gates seethed in the ring, Whelan continued by saying that Gates’ time would come. Whelan said that he would not allow a man like him to win the Event Horizon series.
— Declan Black (2-0-1) vs. Miguel Villalobos (1-2-0)
Well these two beat the piss out of each other.
Villalobos came to the ring looking surly as all hell. Black was…less so. The beginning of the match saw Black evade a series of strike attempts from Villalobos until ultimately catching a kick and turning it into a dragon screw. Black looked to transition into the Painkiller 2.0 (Inside Arm Bar) but Villalobos had it scouted.
Black tried for his Into The Black (Regal Cutter) but Villalobos spun through and then blasted Black with a lariat. Following a barrage of ruthless stomps from Los Lobo Loco, Villalobos set Black up for Santa Muerte (Cradle Piledriver) but Black tripped Villalobos up and dropped a flying knee onto his head. Black covered for two.
At this point our attention was drawn to the rampway where a figure appeared and stood sentry at the top of the ramp. Mears pointed out that the man was “The Terror of Toledo” Ryan Gates, Villalobos’ tag team partner. Petrie asked if he was any relation to Agustin Gates and Mears replied by saying that given Ryan’s skin color it was doubtful.
Neither man in the ring noticed Ryan on the stage as he did not advance down the ramp. Villlalobos got the upperhand once more and set Black up for Ay Dios Mio (Chokebomb) but Black slipped out, maintained wrist control and nailed the Blackout (Rainmaker) for the three count.
Winner: Declan Black (3-1-1)
As Black’s music played we cut to Ryan and with his arms crossed he shook his head in disappointment before the scene cut.
— The Last King
Somewhere backstage (hopefully close to the curtain) Devin Brando was seated on road case. “I have said it before and I will say it again for the viewing audience; the moniker of The Last King didn’t come from egotistical claims.”
A beat.
“It came from me vowing to myself that if I am to live in a land of makeshift kings and braggarts, I would be the last one.” Brando said.
He continued by chastising Whelan. Brando said that even though Whelan did not subject himself to a three on one fight earlier in the evening that Whelan’s perfect record would come to an end tonight. Brando promised victory before heading off for his match.
— Devin Brando (2-0-1) vs. Finn Whelan (3-0-0)
Brando nearly cut Whelan in a half with a snap spear right off the bell. Brando then kept Whelan subdued with some big shots before introducing Whelan’s face to every single turnbuckle. Brando put Whelan down with a spinning lariat and got a near fall.
“Seems like someone’s head is feeling better.” Petrie said.
Whelan started to fight back, cracking Brando in the jaw with a leaping knee. Whelan then went for his ScRM (Asai DDT) but Brando held him up and placed him on the top rope, facing the crowd. Following some forearms to Whelan’s kidneys, Brando went for a splash mountain bomb. At the last second Whelan back flipped out of the hold and landed in front of Brando, however, Brando instantly smashed him with a spinning lariat for a second two count. Brando went for Midnight Murder Scene (End of Days) but Whelan slipped out of his grasp and this time he was able to hit the ScRM (Asai DDT) for a two count of his own. Whelan was feeling himself at this point. Brando stood up and Whelan went for a springboard moonsault but Brando caught him and dropped him on his head with Velvet Revolver (Tombstone Piledriver). Brando covered and handed Whelan his first loss.
Winner: Devin Brando (3-0-1)
