OATH Pro Wrestling Presents Event Horizon: Night Three Portland, Oregon, United States of America July 17th 2019

— Real Violence The OATH signature played and then faded into a scene backstage in Portland. Devin Brando appeared to speak on the matter of Badd Breed and their antics. Brando firstly told the audience about the injury to his head, saying that blood shed for conquest is something he doesn’t mind giving. He’s undefeated and all that matters is continuing on the path to the ultimate victory.

Brando remarked that the words Erik Holland spoke of what “real violence” was made Brando feel a remnant of joy. It reminded Brando of the words that dozens…hundreds of people told him during his rise to where he is now.

“Everyone has their definition of real violence, and Holland should search for his,” Brando spoke, “but you will not find it in your acts towards me.” He eyed the camera. “The only thing you will find is emptiness, because I have left you far behind.

We cut to Matt Mears and Ben Petrie on commentary. Mears commented that most men who found themselves in Brando’s position would be out for blood, but Brando seems focussed on the real task which is winning the Event Horizon Series. Ben Petrie countered, saying that Brando isn’t out for revenge because he knows that he will lose.

— Erik Holland (0-2-0) vs. Rob Sharpe (0-2-0) The first match of the evening was very interesting. Holland and Sharpe both made their entrances and before the bell rang, they shook hands. Holland was caught saying to Sharpe, “If he does come out here, you know what we’ve gotta do.” and Sharpe responded with a simple nod.

What happened next was what should have been expected. Holland and Sharpe beat the absolute piss out of each other in a fashion that only brothers could. It’s been said that you are hardest on the people that are closest to you and this match proved that. Following a brawl ringside, Holland cracked Sharpe with a Plan 9 From Outer Space (Superman Punch) and dropped the old warhorse. Sharpe instinctively tried to put some space between himself and Holland but didn’t quite make it into the ring. Sharpe found himself on the apron and Holland took control yet again. Holland set Sharpe up for a Toxic Avenger (Death Valley Driver) on the apron but Sharpe fought out of it and hit Holland with a Dawkins Suplex (Hard Way German Suplex) on the apron. Petrie seemed shocked, “Holland has over thirty pounds on Sharpe and Sharpe just tossed him like he was nothing!” to which Mears replied, “Sharpe has shown us a fraction of what he is capable of so far. I feel like this is just the beginning. Sharpe is a veteran, this is a two week series. He knows not to show all of his cards right away. Holland was in a daze, completely rocked when Sharpe rolled him back into the ring. Rather than go for an impulsive cover, the veteran surveyed the situation and decided to put the boots to Holland, to keep him down. With Holland face down, Sharpe grabbed both of Holland’s arms and sent Holland’s face in to the mat with the Nefarious Device (Super Dragon Curb Stomp). Sharpe covered but only got a two count. Sharpe went to continue the pressure but Holland popped up and nailed Sharpe with a headbutt that sent the veteran staggering backward. In the most ungraceful, almost desperate fashion, Holland pulled Sharpe into a fireman’s carry but Sharpe slid off of Holland shoulders and dropped him with The Sharpe Turn (Angle Slam). Sharpe covered and got the pinfall.

Winner: Rob Sharpe (1-2-0)

After the bell Sharpe had his hand raised. Sharpe then helped his Badd Breed compatriot up and the two shook hands. The audience still booed them but the Breed didn’t care, this was an important moment for them. Holland raised Sharpe’s hand in a show of respect but Portland didn’t entertain it for a second. The consensus among the audience in Portland was for Badd Breed to take their circle jerk elsewhere.

— Reintroducción Before the next match the broadcast feed went dark and a distorted voiceover began.

The feed abruptly cut.

— Miguel Villalobos (0-2-0) vs. Salvador Blanco (1-1-0) The Wolf King came to the ring first and the audience let him know that they weren’t into him. “Portland knows that Villalobos doesn’t recycle.” Mears commented. Blanco was out next to a great reaction. Blanco chose to start the match with an attempt at a handshake. Villalobos seemed like he was considering it for a moment but then smashed Blanco with a headbutt to the nose.

Villaobos proceeded to beat Blanco from pillar to post. The shot to Blanco’s nose caused his eyes to well up and that combined with his mask made it very hard for Blanco to see. Villalobos knew how to duck and weave, to confuse and disorient Blanco.

The “White Saviour” threw a hail mary spinning back elbow that connected and Blanco grabbed Villalobos’ wrist to keep him close. Blanco held on tight and proceeded to through some huge kicks, trying to knot up Villalobos’ thigh muscles. Villalobos went for the Ay Dios Mio (Chokebomb) out of desperation but Blanco broke Villalobos’ grip and hit The Wolf King with a monkey flip into the corner.

Alas, Blanco could not capitalize, his vision was too impaired, he didn’t see an explosive lariat from Villalobos coming and was turned inside out. Villalobos kept Blanco subdued with an onslaught of vicious boots to the head, to the point where Blanco could not defend himself. The referee had no choice but to stop the match.

Winner: Miguel Villalobos (1-2-0)

Villalobos did not stay to revel in his victory, he immediately left the ring and let the scene of the referee tending to Blanco stand as a statement. The wolf was effectively reintroduced and poised to change the whole ecosystem.

— Monologuing Backstage Agustin Gates was shown warming up, sporting his “Unblemished” t-shirt. As soon as Gates noticed the camera he began talking at it, staring right into the lens. Gates said that for those who can’t read his t-shirt, he is still ‘Unblemished’ in OATH and he would still be after his upcoming match. Gates said that Whelan has had some shady victories but that would not happen tonight. Gates said that one of them was going to lose and that it would not be him. Gates said that he was going to win the Event Horizon Series with a perfect record…unblemished.

— Agustin Gates (2-0-0) vs. Finn Whelan (2-0-0) Mears said that he spoke with Finn Whelan earlier in the day. Mears admitted that although he felt that Whelan’s “tainted” victories were on purpose at first, Mears now believes that both instances were accidents. Mears claims that he is a good judge of character and that when he spoke with Whelan he got the sense that Whelan truly seemed remorseful, that he did not mean to win his matches like that.

Gates made a grand entrance…again. Portland was not impressed, they were very vocal about their dislike of “The Magnum Opus”. Gates did not seem to care, he was more concerned with spelling out the word on his t-shirt. Gates stood in the middle of the ring and began pointing to every letter, “U-N-B-L-E-M—” Gates was interrupted when “Into the Fire” cued up.

Finn Whelan came out to a mixed response from the crowd and it seemed to bother him. Whelan shook off the reaction and marched to the ring, all the while Gates stared a hole through him. Whelan entered the ring and Gates immediately attacked him.

“The cheater is also extremely rude! How dare he interrupt The Majestic One!” Petrie said.

The referee called for the bell and Gates kept Whelan down with some stiff kicks. Whelan fought up but Gates cracked him with Dethroned (Discus Clothesline). Gates covered but Whelan kicked out right after the one count. Gates tried to keep the pressure on but Whelan fought out and caught Gates on the chin with a leaping knee.

Gates tried to recover and win back control with another Dethroned (Discus Clothesline) but Whelan ducked underneath and planted Gates with a running bulldog. Whelan then hit a lionsault for a two count. Whelan quickly pulled Gates up and nailed him with TITIM CEANN (Lifting Underhook DDT). Before Whelan could cover, Gates rolled to the outside but was clearly seeing stars.

The referee started counting and Gates did not stir. Around a count of twelve Whelan began to look anxious. At the count of sixteen Whelan decided that he did not want another tainted victory so he exited the ring and took hold of Gates. Turns out that Gates was playing opossum and as soon as Whelan was close enough, Gates sent Whelan face first into the ring steps with a drop toe hold.

Gates quickly rolled back into the ring and demanded that the referee count.

“Seems that Gates is happy to win however he can.” Mears said.

“There is nothing wrong with that. A win is a win.” Petrie countered.

Gates nearly got another countout win but at eighteen Whelan got up and slid back into the ring. Gates was on Whelan immediately. Gates took off his shirt and tossed it at Whelan in an attempt to distract him. It worked. Gates snatched Whelan and tried for Adieu (Uranage) but Whelan slipped behind Gates, spun him around and planted him with Revelation 6:4 (The Bitter End). Whelan covered and got the clean three count.

Winner: Finn Whelan (3-0-0)

— Blemished Portland had changed their tune at this point, they cheer for Whelan’s victory. Whelan looked pleased that he won, but his smile was extra wide because he did it without an asterisk. Whelan looked at his feet and found Gates’ shirt. Whelan picked it up and held it out for Portland to see. Whelan then pointed at each letter, mocking Gates but Gates was back up and he hit Whelan with a low blow.

“You won Whelan! Why try and embarrass the monarch?” Petrie said. In response, Mears simply groaned.

Gates snatched his shirt out of Whelan’s hands and while Whelan was incapacitated because of the attack on his ballsack Gates wrapped the t-shirt around Whelan’s neck. Gates proceeded to choke Whelan out with the shirt until a combination of referees and other OATH staff intervened. Whelan was left on the mat gasping for air and Gates left ringside, clearly very pissed off.

“He probably printed a lot of those shirts prematurely and now has to figure out what to do with them.” Mears said.

— Declan Black (1-1-0) vs. Devin Brando (2-0-0)

The final match of the evening saw a test of strength to start. Neither competitor got a clear advantage at first. Black went for an arm drag but Brando rolled through it and evaded a clothesline. Brando went for a German suplex but Black spun behind Brando and went for one of his own. Brando fought out with elbows to the head and then both men went for dropkicks at the same time, neither connecting.

They took a moment to size each other up and then tied up. Brando feigned an Irish whip and then planted Black with a spinning lariat. Brando took control, keeping Black grounded with a chin lock but Black fought up and put Brando down with Into The Black (Regal Cutter) for a near fall.

Black tried to transition into a cross arm breaker but Brando rolled onto his stomach and turned it into a pinning predicament. Black kicked out at two. Brando kept the pressure on but Black caught him with a toe kick to the mid-section and then took Brando over with a snap suplex. Black tried to float over into a cover but Brando rolled onto his stomach.

“These two are very evenly matched thus far.” Mears said.

“Black should just start putting boots to Brando’s head. Make it three shows in a row that Brando has bled. It can be Brando’s ‘thing’.” Petrie said.

Black took Brando’s back but Brando rolled out of it and the two found themselves on their feet again, locking up. Brando went for a suplex of his own but held Black in the air for a stalling brainbuster. Black was able to hit Brando with a knee to the top of the head and landed on his feet behind Brando.

The two then went on for the next ten minutes with counter after counter, putting on a technical master class for those in attendance. Black worked the arm in preparation for his Painkiller 2.0 (Severn Style Inside Armbar) but every time Black went to apply it, Black had a counter.

Conversely, Brando took every opportunity to try and pull Black in for the Midnight Murder Scene (End of Days) but Black had it scouted and always ended up behind Brando. After a third attempt at the Midnight Murder Scene, Black found himself behind Brando went for the Blackout (Rainmaker Lariat) but Brando dropped to a knee at the last second. Brando then hit the ropes and came back looking for a spear but Black got one knee up and Brando ran right into it.

The timekeeper announced that there was one minute left, which caused some panic on Black’s part. Black got Brando up and went for the Blackout (Rainmaker Lariat) once again but Brando evaded it. Brando went to hit the ropes but Black followed him and smashed him with the Call of the Coal (Claymore). Brando went through the ropes to the outside. Black followed him and scrambled to get Brando back in the ring to make the cover but the timekeeper called for the bell. The time limit had been reached.

Winner: Draw

It was announced that the match was a no contest but that both men had earned one point. The final shot of the night showed a disappointed Black sitting in the ring with Brando being checked on by officials.
