Hello, hola, konichiwa, bonjour, hallo, ni hao, privet, ciao, ola, and howdy folks. It is once again time for Minoru’s Musings. I know you’re sitting there and thinking, “but we thought that was just a special treat while you were away”, and I had initially planned on that, but the people love them so much that I couldn’t take them away.
Of course now you’re wondering what I will do about the fact OATH has added a second show in the form of Livewire? Simple, I will cover both shows. This does mean that each match will have to be slightly less in depth, but that’s a necessary change. The big question though, how can anyone else possibly get the match of the night now that I am back competing. Well, it takes two to tango as they say. While I am the most incredibly athletic, talented, and handsome man in all of Oath, it’s possible two people could be better dance partners. Also, I will not be ranking my own matches. I’ll analyze and depending on the opponent I might say something nice, but no grade from me. With that housekeeping down, let’s get on to the show.
Pre Show Musings
Little different this week since I was on the pre show, but again, everyone that was expected to win, won, most in impressive fashion, especially Qiyanna Marshall with the incredibly quick victory and Matt Shields did like fifty different neckbreakers, I didn’t even know there was that many.
Main Card Musings
Blanco Vs. Malon Musings
This was definitely an interesting match. I honestly don’t know what to think about either of these two except for they might be bat crap crazy. They’re definitely weird and untraditional in their attitude and in ring styles. Mallon controlled most of the match with her aggressive style, but was a bit sloppy at times and what’s what cost Mallon the match and lead to a victory for El Diablo Blanco, who the fans certainly seem to like. I’m giving this one 2.5 stars, good, but not great.
Sharpe Vs. War Musings
This was a match that felt like it could have been great, if War took it seriously from the start. For whatever reason, he did not want to wrestler Jenna Sharpe. My best guess is he was worried about getting aroused. He’s probably not used to being around attractive women. Still, he has talent. He also has no killer instinct. I enjoy a bit of flash, showmanship, confidence, but it’s gotta be backed up by the will to win, and the knowledge of when it’s time to showboat and when it’s time to strike. Jenna Sharpe knew when to strike and that got her the win. Giving this one 3 stars
Scum Vs. Midnight Musings
Zeke Davis is a piece of shit. Just needed to go ahead and get that out of the way. Baz Jacobi is also trash, and I was hoping to see them get their asses kicked. Midnight Special came out hot with the attack before the bell and really took it to the taint lickers. Unfortunately, Davis and Jacobi are excellent liars and cheaters, and they used every dirty trick to take the advantage back and wear down the tag team specialists. Midnight wouldn’t go down without a fight though. They took control and looked on their way to win, but that damn creepy little bastard that hangs around with Jacobi used what was probably his emergency coke to blind Cherry and help the bastards get the win. I’ll give this 3 stars because it would have been a good match without the bullshit.
Aguero Vs. Young Musings
The first match of the Event Horizon Series and it was a damn good start. Both ladies looked impressive in this one and it easily could have been MOTN. Aguero continued to impress in singles actions, and I still believe she is the better member of her team, if she can get that aggression that her partner has. She definitely showed a lot more of it against Effy as well as some serious resilience. FM Young also impressed, strength, speed, agility, and that drive to be a champion. In the end, it carried her right back to her winning ways and the first 2 points of the EHS were earned. Giving this one 4 stars.
Matsuda vs. Edwards (Intrepid Title Match) Musings
The first A block match and an Intrepid title match as Edwards has decided to put the gold on the line in every match. It’s a bold strategy and motivation tactic for sure. A massive opportunity for Matsuda, and I wish she would have shown the mean streak she showed at Rapture against her partner. Too reluctant at the start and while she did take control and hit some big moves, it always felt like she was just a half step off. Tag team wrestling might be her forte and there’s nothing wrong with that at all. Yes she controlled the match and had a lot of near falls, but in the end she could never put Edwards away and tapped out. She’s gotta find the next gear before #OATHXXV. I’m giving this 3.5 stars
Helms vs. Terror Musings
This was probably the match I was most intrigued by and it’s because both of these guys are a lot of fries short of a happy meal. This thing was a bloodbath like two minutes in and Terror showed that he can be a sadistic bastard. Of course if he wouldn’t have had help from his tag partner, this one could have been very different. She was there, she helped big time and Helms never really seemed to get out of the gate, and thanks to an exposed turnbuckle and Adrastia Nyx, Terror picked up a quick victory and a relatively easy 2 points. This one gets 2.5 stars thanks to the hijinx.
Black vs. Holland Musings
Alright, here it is, the main event and Minoru’s Match Of The Night. This thing was an absolute war and while there were definitely some shenanigans in this, no one else physically got involved and both of them suffered at the ends of weapons, so it’s not getting the knock that other matches did. These two guys freaking hate each and other and beat the absolute shit out of the other. Holland is an absolute monster, there’s no way around that. He’s big, he’s strong, he’s sadistic and violent, the dude is scary. Quick side note after saying that, Ben Petrie, how dare you kink shame Erik Holland. What him and that young woman do in their bedroom is their business. Now back to the point. Holland, big, tough, may enjoy pegging, may not, but is certainly scary. Declan Black is not scary, but damn is he tough. He’s also smart and not above breaking a rule or two, so long as he knows he can get away with them. Holland looked like a man possessed near the end and I thought he might end Black’s career, but somehow that smarmy little, nine girlfriend having bastard pulled out the victory and got closer to winning the series so he can lose his shot to me. Giving this one 4.5 stars.
