Hello Nancys. It’s your favourite ring veteran, The Buffalo Butcher, Super Shredder, The Goddamn Champion -- Finale. It’s been some time since I’ve been involved in wrestling, be it in the ring or behind the scenes. How have I been spending my days? Kissin’ and sippin’ mostly. An in-ring return is on the horizon but before that happens I have offered my services to OATH as a columnist. Each week I’m gonna run down the Livewire and Conviction cards and give my predictions. It’s highly likely that there will be some controversial thoughts and some of you may get upset by what I have to say but I really don’t give a fuck. Good? Great. Let’s get to it.
LIVEWIRE 5 - August 23rd, 2020
LIVEWIRE TITLE: El Diablo Blanco vs. Minoru Tanahashi ©
El D is my favourite wrestler on the OATH roster. This guy is doing what he can with what he knows and I fucking dig it. The crowd loves him and Diablo Nation is growing every day. Unfortunately for my man El D, he is running into the red hot Minoru Tanahashi. “The Black Lion” has been the cornerstone of Livewire so far and his “Path To Greatness” (where he defends the title enough times to earn shots at the other three OATH singles titles) is ambitious but I dig that. I think El D pulls out all the stops in this one and Minoru is gonna have to look into his bag of tricks to pick up the victory.
Winner: Minoru Tanahashi; Still OATH Livewire Champion
Jamie Emmerson & AJ Jenkynx vs. Mancini Syndicate
This tag team of Emmerson and Jenkynx is something strange. I dunno if she cursed him or has a voodoo doll or whatever but Emmerson seems to have helped Jenky focus. Unfortunately this makeshift team now has to take on an established team in the Mancini Syndicate. Mancini and Jayden have shown that they aren’t against bending the rules to pick up the victory so I see them doing just that to put down this thrown together tandem.
Winners: Mancini Syndicate
JC Keeton vs. Qiyanna Marshal
Keeton has been impressive thus far. Guy made a statement on his first night by attacking my man El D and while I hate him for that, I understand it. If he can keep his focus he may be trouble for Marshal. Speaking of “The Blackhawk”, I feel like she needs to find some fire. I can see that she has the ability to be a brutal competitor but in my opinion she needs to find that second gear. She needs to be ruthless. If she can find that then I think she puts Keeton in his place.
Winner: Qiyanna Marshal
Dynamic Duo vs. The Runaways
From what I understand, Dynamic Duo are proteges of OATH Tabula Rasa Champion, Stephanie Matsuda. Being that Matsuda is a tag team specialist, we can expect some big fucking things from Dynamic Duo. But speaking of guys who are specialists, The Runaways are one of the best tag teams in the business. These guys don’t give a fuck what anyone things and they just mow people down. They carry around those CWA Tag Team Titles...which is whatever but these boys can go. They are on one hell of a run and I don’t see Dynamic Duo being able to stop it.
Winners: The Runaways
Meg Coleman vs. Kallie Reznik
This is an interesting one. It seems that Reznik has recommitted to her career in OATH and that is great to see but is it too little too late? Coleman had a hella good run in the Wildcard Series and although she lost in the finals, she has an insane amount of potential. My biggest problem with both of these competitors is that I’m not really sure why I should care about them? They don’t have a great deal of personality, I don’t know what makes them unique. I’m giving this one to Coleman only because she’s probably right pissed about losing last week and she wants to reassert herself.
Kasey Kash vs. El Caliente Loco
El Caliente Loco is a star in the making...said no one ever. Poor little guy has heart but this Kash kid is fighting for a contract and I see him getting one.
Winner: Kasey Kash
CONVICTION XXIX - August 23rd, 2020
Reo Ojima vs. Stephanie Matsuda
Ojima is heading into the biggest match of his OATH career at Event Horizon II. Dude has to look sharp in this match and can’t afford a loss. That being said, Edwards lost last week so it’s possible that Ojima could lose too. Matsuda had a great run in the EHS and also won the Tabula Rasa Title last week. I think that she is on the rise and if Ojima isn’t careful he’s gonna get caught slippin’.
Winner: Stephanie Matsuda
Leah Aguero vs. Locke Helms
Man is it just me or is Leah Aguero one of the most frustrating talents on the roster? She shows up and wins big matches and then phones in other matches and loses. Get your head in the game “War Queen” because you just yoyo up and down the card. Helms is a killer, he showed that last week when he nearly ripped Edwards head off. Aguero said she wants blood and destruction and all that good shit but when she gets it from a guy like Helms, I see her failing...again.
Winner: Locke Helms
Baz Jacobi vs. Erik Holland
This is gonna be the match of the night on both shows. Jacobi may be widely considered as a piece of shit by those people that hate ONI but the kid can go. Problem is, he is running into a freight train like Holland. Holland has fallen from grace as of late and he can’t seem to find his footing. Also I see Matt Shields lurking in the shadows so I’m gonna say that this one ends with no winner via interference.
Winner: No Contest
Zeke Davis vs. Jenna Sharpe
Listen up...Zeke Davis is sick. So what he only knows like five moves? He knows how to win and that’s really all that fuckin’ matters. Jenna Sharpe is evidently quite pissed off about losing last week even though she put on a great performance. If Davis is able to wind Jenna up in this match then he can squeak out a win but if Jenna ties him up like a pretzel then Zeke is gonna be in trouble. I’m gonna give it to Jenna only because she can’t afford a loss to Zeke and she knows it.
Winner: Jenna Sharpe
Matt Shields vs. Tyler War
Tyler War is one of those guys that I had high hopes for but the guy puts in minimum effort. You can’t pull that shit against a lunatic like Shields. I’d love it if War came to play but I don’t see it happening. If Holland decides to come down to the ring and bust Shield’s jaw then maybe War can pull it out but it seems unlikely.
Winner: Matt Shields
So there it is. The Event Horizon II card is definitely gonna get some matches added to it and a lot of people have a lot of proving themselves to do. If you are pissed about something that I said about you personally or someone that you like feel free to tell me. I’ll tell you to go fuck yourself.
Stay Gold,
F.
